Whilst on holiday last year, I tasted some Stinky Tofu. It has to be the most vile substance on earth. I felt sick for hours afterwards.

I'd actually forgotten about it until I came across this clip this morning:

It's pretty much how I reacted.

Juicy Fruit chewing gum made me puke my dick up when i was a kid. The slightest hint of a smell of it now makes me retch.

    Seriously, how mank is it?

    Very, that's how.

I tried pigs ear in Latvia, everything about it was disgusting, from the sight of an ear on my plate to the taste and the texture.

Had them a few months ago and they tasted exactly as I imagined they would....like ears. Peasant food. No reason to eat them in 2011.

Potato crisps. I was 8 or 9 and I had the misfortune of being sold a packet of crisps that was at least two months past its sell-by date. I only found that out when I put half a dozen of those crisps in my mouth. X((

    Tripe.

    Celery

    Any kind of sandwich filler.

    American cakes and dairy.

    Grizzle.

Interestingly, a food you'd think is manky but is delicious is intestine.

Maybe...hmmmm....maybe it's how it's served....had it once in Chinese food and it tasted wiggly and slimy but had it deep fried in Argentina and it was delish...but in fairness I was half cut.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,474 ✭✭✭vandriver

No,tripe is the lining of a cows stomach and is the only food that made me vomit. When me mam served it for tea a second time ,I ran away from home.

Well as a young fellah years ago as a trainee chef in london i remember been astonished at what people like. The high end of Haute Cuisine amazed me.Old cheese gone mouldy was one. There were others like anchovies. The other chefs years in the business had ordinary tastes and did'nt fuss over their own eating habits.

Anything with aniseed in it. I got really sick before after drinking Absinthe and Lidl's own imitation Jagermeister. Since then the smell of aniseed in anything makes me retch:(

A Ken Hom chinese ready meal thingy from Tesco. Absolutely vile. Without doubt the most inedible thing I've ever tasted. Took one small mouthfull which I had to spit stright out and then rinse my mouth out. It's in a red box so watch out for it. Just say NO kids!!

3 inches of fat off a boiled ham.

I'm gagging thinking of it. My Granddad loved it so I thought I'd try some.

I'm not a big fan of fish... I like the milder tasting ones but someone gave me fried and lightly battered minnows one day. I actually got sick. Also the time I tried fish balls from the Asian super market.

Also some orange velvet chocolate that milka make. Augumention the antibiotic in it's liquid form for children(at least this is what I think it was.. was white, chalky and tasted like weed killer)..... I had to have this a lot as a child and each time it was insta puke. I can still taste it in my mouth when I think of it.

I'm the kinda person who has to taste something before I'll past judgement... but I also have a very weak stomach.

I can't imagine they'd taste bad though? Wouldn't they just be kind of soft?

Do you mean gristle? As in the cartilaginous, tough stuff in meat?

As for 'peasant food' which you mentioned earlier, surely gristle and intestine fall into that category you so dearly stay away from:pac:

Something in Dunnes canteen about 10 years ago which the "chef" (ahem) claimed was chicken. Kept having to pull tens of tiny little bones out of it. To this day I honestly think what I actually ate was rat
