    Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a new 32" TV.

The Sony I'd like is much cheaper from Sam rather then the local Curry's store.

Any advice on this. Is it sensible to buy such a large item from a distance ?

    Any experience of Sam ?

    A.

Yeah bought a 50" Samsung a few years back, (€1140 as opposed to €2500 in Harvey Norman) €15 delivered to Tipp within a few days, saved myself a fortune.

Amazon deliver many TV's to ROI and Richersounds.ie will pricematch items you see elsewhere online.

Richersounds have an excellent reputation for service, well deserved imo

They have a forum here, http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1105

They do but the delivery charges on a decent sized TV are crazy.

    Bought the 32" Sony.
samsyerman.ie charge Sterling 20.00 for delivery to Cork.
Still better than any deal here. :)
And it has a 5 year warranty :):)

And they were very effecient and professional in all respects.

Richersounds maybe, yes. But you wanna check the fineprint with amazon,a Flatscreen delivery free to ROI,from amazon in UK?You must be having a laugh.Amazon are a middle-man dealership,if your getting free delivery on a 40" LCD/PLASMA,you can be sure its already in your price. The only & i mean only place that deliver free to ROI from UK are AUDIOAFFAIR.CO.UK,but heard a few horror stories with folks left waiting on their stuff.:)

Yea,i got a Sony 46" LCD/LED 3DHD with 5yr warranty for myself after seeing how good a bargain it was for my dad,for £850 incl all accessories for 3D,but i really bought it for the picture quality.Delivery was £25.All in all i paid less than €1000 for a TV that was €2,500 in january.samsyerman,Top of the range internet & phone service.Obviously they didn't know The DPD delivery man was an ignorant git.He slammed the TV from about 5 ft down on to the ground, luckily the TV was OK as i didn't realise the accessories were in the Box,so i asked him were there any more boxes & he just glared at me,telling me it was nothing to do with him.i should have reported him in hindsight, but its not something im into doing. But SAMSYERMAN (S&R ELEC) 10/10 All day long.

Amazon no longer deliver 40" LCD/Plasma televisions to ROI. When they did so earlier this year (see threads linked below), shipping on those larger screens was free.

They do however continue to ship many 32" flatscreen models to Ireland with no delivery charge.

The OP mentioned a 32" and queried the wisdom of purchasing from afar, hence my reference to Richersounds and Amazon as additional / alternative avenues from which to source a TV.

I ordered an LG 32LD450 from Amazon in May and delivery was gratis, as did many of our fellow Boardsies.

LG / Toshiba and some Panasonic 32" models still ship from Amazon with no p&p charge whatsoever.

Also, no 'built in' premium to cover shipping to Ireland - it's basically the same price as for UK buyers, with only the IE VAT rate accounting for any difference.

This was also the case earlier in the year, when folks snapped up 42" TV's and larger, delivered with 'Free Super Saver Delivery' to Ireland.
