Scanned this from Rugby World Magazine (http://www.rugbyworld.com/).

Might be worth a sticky so everyone can check it during the tournament. Image is a bit big, maybe a mod can somehow make it smaller?

Here's a very handy one you can import into Google Calendar or similar

First time I realised every game Ireland will be involved in is at the weekend.:D:D

Pity some games are at 3 - 4.30. I can handle the early ones but I'll have to miss those ones. Cant even record them if they are on ITV. Or has anyone found a way around it?

    Ugh to those times tbh.

  • Heres a really good permutations spreadsheet if anyone was interested in any long term bets this kind of thing is essential.

AFAIK you can manually record 'other channels' via Sky. It is a bit of a nuisance but basically you have to tune in the channel you wish to record e.g. ITV1/4 and keep your Sky box tuned to this channel for the duration of the programme you wish to record. Then link your Sky box via scart to external recorder e.g. DVD/Video and manually record the programme with this external recorder. Those with Freesat rather than Sky in ROI have the advantage of being able to have ITV1/4 on their EPG (you can input any postcode to get any of ITV regions) and this makes it easy to record if you have a PVR.

Just realised ITV have an online player and it looks to have a good range of stuff from all 4 channels. I'd imagine they will show the games on that. I hope they do anyway.

Edit: Also just realised you cant view it outside of the UK.

    Scotland v. Romania @ 2:00am

The more you look at it, we got a great draw time wise.
If its like the last would cup, the matches will be on ITV1 and ITV4, so hopefully ITV4 HD will be FTA as well before the world cup starts... because ITV will be showing every match in the tournament and have daily highlighs shows.

Very much doubt that ITV4HD will become FTA rather than part of a subscription as it is linked to ITV2HD and ITV3HD and only in last few months did ITV go down this subscription route but I hope I'm wrong.

I know, its more of a wish than a hope for ITV4 HD, watching the cycling, there SD picture is more than ok.

most games will be on Setanta Ireland and Setanta Sports 1 will be used when there's a clash. I would imagine all of Ireland's will be on Setanta Ireland given that they will be up against FTA broadcasts on RTÉ

All games on ITV1 apart from when pool games kick off at the same time

Setanta are advertising that they will be showing all games live - highlighting games that won't be shown on RTE, but definitely worth watching, e.g. NZ-France, England-Argentina.

ITV's deal requires them to show all games live also (which will be split between ITV1 and ITV4, I think)

Here's a neat trick. Go on to Gumtree Belfast and buy a second hand U.K. Skybox. They cost about £20.00 usually. Sky+ is a bit more. You get all free to air U.K. t.v. programmes. No card needed.

Doesn't even need to be a UK Skybox. We changed our package a few years ago and Sky upgraded our box & let us keep our old one. So now we have the old box hooked up with no card and have all the UK FTA channels.
Note that this isn't a Sky+ Box but I assume it's the same.
I think it's the card which makes it Sky Ireland so when it's taken out it defaults to the UK.

You saying take out the card, restart it and when it reverts to UK format (no RTE) that ITV will be available without going into other channels ? And as such on a sky+ box they can be recorded ? Or have I misunderstood ?

Edit: Checked that and the normal digibox will revert to UK format with ITV but a sky+ box doesnt.

Well I'm not 100% certain about Sky+ but I can't see any reason for it to be different. I would be cautious about switching over and back in case it might wipe your recorded data. But if you could get your hands on a second hand Sky+ box it should do the job - irrespective of it being a UK or Irish box.

From my own experience, when we upgraded our package we were left with our old digibox to spare. So I hooked it up to another TV with no card in it and now what I have on that TV is all UK FTA with ITV channel 103

This is the list of channels under 'Free to Air'
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_channels_on_Sky

Edit: Saw your 'Edit' - That's a shame!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,081 ✭✭✭Digifriendly

AFAIK Sky+ recording facilities will not work without a subscription card but a box without a card should have both ITV1 and ITV4 on its Epg. You could then link the box up to external DVD/Video recorder via a scart lead and record the channel e.g. ITV4 using the external recorder. Only problem is you have to keep the box tuned to the channel you're recording and not switch to another channel during recording. Other alternative would be to purchase a Freesat PVR in time for RWC (works off same dish as Sky) and be able to record one channel while watching another and this is also easier to record ITV1/4 matches that are being played in early hours when you're probably asleep.

Yes, almost certainly though UTV might as in previous RWC tournaments have their own presentation team and panel for Ireland matches.

Plenty of games on ITV1 HD then, I was afraid only the big games would be on that, with the other 60% moved to ITV4.

You could replace the word "Irish" with "muck"...
Setanta Rugby commentary had been terrible since they lost Mark Robson to Sky.....I’ll be more than likely watching the "non-RTE games" on ITV.
Having said that, ITV don't have a great history on the Rugby commentary front....does anybody know if Sky has loaned out Miles Harrison and Stuart Barnes to ITV again this year?

Glad the Irish games are on RTE this year, and we don't have to put up with TV3's below par coverage.
Really looking forward to seeing the games on RTE2-HD!!!

Great idea for a temporary sticky. Now I have to ask again...

As these games are on at crazy times have you any ideas for recording the matches? You can't set Sky+ to record the ITV channels and Setanta isn't on the Sky package. I really don't wanna have to set my alarm and watch rugby in the dark at 4am.

    Brainstorm!

    Brainstorm!

You can manually set up a recording by :

    (1) Leaving your Sky box on overnight tuned to ITV1/4 via 'other channels'.
    (2) Linking your sky box to external recorder e.g. DVD/Video recorder via scart.
    (3) Manually set your external recorder to start recording at time match is on or alternatively if there is a lot of space on your recorder (on DVD ones with hard drive there is usually plenty) simply push record on your recorder when you go to bed.

It's a bit of a nuisance but possible nonetheless. If you don't have an external recorder then it's a problem but there are plenty out there that are not too expensive esp. second hand ones that will do the job on e bay.
