How old were you when you had your first proper drink? Where were you and what did you have?

Im not talking about getting a sip of your auld fellas pint when you were 7 btw.

Mine was a pint of carlsberg in a pub with 2 of my mates after a football match. I think I was 16 :D

You're not the only one to be caught out by this one! yep mine was vodka also due to the age old myth that you cant smell it!( I learned from my mother later that evening when I got home that it was indeed a myth!!!) Think I was a year older and 13.

First proper pint at 15 but I was drinking half empty cans that were thrown around the street and in wheelie-bins since I was like 9.

    Aged 3

Christmas Morning, parents came down to fiind me running around the living room like a lunatic, giggling and falling over, apparently I had drained every glass and can left over from the night before and was legless, I slept it off and was none the worse.

    15. Old style bottle of guinness in a pub in Mitchellstown on a stop off during a school tour. It was foul.

    18, as per the law.

Can't remember what it was - maybe a Carling - but then alcohol has never been a fixation for me like it unfortunately seems to be for a lot of Irish people.

It exists and I can take it or leave it.

16 in the Big Tree, Dublin. Before the Tipp-Waterford match. Pint of bulmers.

Can't remember what age but very young. Too young to be babysitting my sister but thats what I was doing. Got a mate down to my three-hour-free-gaff-bonanza and we raided my parents drinks cabinet.

They weren't big drinkers but liked to have a bit of everything so any requests could be taken care of.

We tried Gin: Foul. Vodka: Jesus it burns. Whiskey: What is this I don't even.. Bols: Wat? Sheridans: Black bit is foul but I could get used to the white bit. Baileys: Nah mate my ma drinks it. Then, before all the little sips of the others could hit, we found Malibu. It didn't taste like booze, and the back of the bottle recommended mixing half and half with milk for a refreshing drink, so thats what we did.

Spent the rest of the night outside my house with mugs full of Malibu and milk being laughed at/scolded by neighbours till my mam and dad came home.

    7. Drank a full glass of Bacardi. Not pleasant.

Apart from that, 16, at a music festival. Massive amounts of beer, cider, weed and :o alcopops. Quite the baptism of fire.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 209 ✭✭FootShooter

Me and a mate at age 14-15 drank a bottle of whiskey that we found in his parents liquor cabinet. The awning below the second floor window did not look pretty the morning after.

I was 13. I walked into a pub asked for a large bottle of bulmers and expected to be told to f**k off but I got served. Stood at the bar for about a minute letting on I was going to sit down and drink it, then panic set in and I grabbed the bottle and ran out the door.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

I had a taster at 10 but was 15 or 17 before I had my first drink but a proper drink I was 18 really.

I started late, 17 or 18 I think. In a pub for the birthday of someone in my class and it was Smithwicks, which I still drink now. The start of a beautiful relationship.

3 pints of cider when I was 14, at a 21st and my neighbour sneaked them over to me as I sat in a corner. I was ****faced and left with baloons tied to me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,673 ✭✭✭AudreyHepburn

Bacardi Breezer on my 18th. I may have tried the odd sip of wine here and there before but I was never interested in drinking as a teen and am still fairly light on it now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,367 ✭✭✭✭watna

15 I think - my mum used to buy me bacardi breezers and I'd have one or two at home with her watching a film or something.

The first time I was drunk was on Tequila and I was 16 - I necked it from the bottle :o I woke up the next day feeling completely normal. If I did that now I'd have my head in the toilet all of the next day. I didn't drink a huge amount before I was 18 (apart from that tequila night) - most nights where everyone else was drinking I'd be the sober one looking after them (there was a memorable night when the girls had gin for the first time, there was a lot of crying!)

I was 13 and got locked on a bottle of Thunderbirds..vile stuff
