Educogym - Yes, that old chestnut

    I've just discovered this forum and unfortunately for me, too late for my pocket. So now i'm on it for four weeks I am determined to stick it out and at least get my moneys worth. I joined and had my first session today which was intense and every bit as hard as I had dreaded. Anyways, so I've started my diet and nutrition and it also says on the diet list to take a number of supplements, all of which are available at the Tony Quinn shop which I have noticed from on here isn't held in high esteem.

    Therefore my question to you is whether these supplements are actually necessary to help my 4 week weight loss crusade or are they another Tony Quinn scam? The following supplements below are the ones which I am supposed to take daily, written exactly how it appears on my diet sheet:

    Supplements per day:

    * Amino Energise - 15 Tablets
    * Amino-Or 3-6g powder or 6-12 capsules
    * Creatine 10g (two teaspoons powder_
    * Special Liver Formula

    So out of them four supplements I already have creatine which I had from a while ago so it is mainly the other three I need help with. Really, what i'd like to know is if these are available under different names (with same ingredients) in cheaper places than Tony Quinn's shops, maybe somehwere like Holland and Barratts? I don't know anything about supplements or what any of the ones above mean or what they are used for in conjunction with my weights and diet regime so if anyone could point me to alternative, cheaper options than the above I would be eternally grateful.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Could probably go through all the products myprotien has and find similar stuff. Time consuming I'd say.

    Yeah but I don't know what each of them supplements are to find similar ones, was kind of hoping someone who may have been on the educogym course or has knowledge of it could point me in the direction of cheaper alternatives that would work just as well.

    I really don't think you need any of those supplements at all, and if you've just started lifting then even creatine is pointless.

    Is protein and creatine useless for people starting to lift?

    When is it right to start?

    * Amino Energise - 15 Tablets lol

    * Special Liver Formula lol

    You don't need extra amino acids, you'll have plenty in the food you're eating. Your liver has survived this long without a special formula so unless you intend on doing steroids in the next couple of weeks then I'd give the 'special liver formula' a miss too.
    Is protein and creatine useless for people starting to lift?

    Any time is right to start but the assumption is that people starting out have no clue about training + diet and as a result should try to focus on them without having to rely on supplements. If you want to take a protein shake after a workout or whatever then do because it will do you no harm but it is just protein. Protein shakes have more of a placebo effect than anything on people because they think that because the protein is in powedered form it will for some reason make them gain extreme amounts of mass in an extremely short amount of time. The usual advice is get your diet right and then worry about supplements and I'd agree with that.

    Creatine is different though and while it would probably be beneficial for you to take it straight from the off I'd probably advise beginners to stay off it until they 'plateau'. When you first start training you will get stronger quickly, it's almost like a new job - initially you are crap at it but you improve vastly in the first few weeks, these improvements then slow down as time goes on. When the improvements slow down in the gym then people tend to just stop going. I'd suggest that you take creatine once you notice you aren't improving as it will give you a mental boost with the extra few reps it will give you in most excercises (at least it gives me an extra few reps).

    TL;DR
    You should have your diet right before supplementing it with protein supplements. You can use creatine now or save it for when you are feeling that you are not progressing in the gym, it is one of the very few worthwhile supplements imo.

    It depends on the branch of Educogym, the one in glasnevin area doesnt push the suppliments at all. You will still get same results without them. BTW the Amino Or can make you very nautious.

    eat real food

    train hard (some hard days some easier days)

    rest hard (sleep, foam roll, stretch)

    rinse, repeat = win

    The supplements that Educogym sell are low quality and very over priced .

    Educogym staff will try and push them onto you as they get commission and have to hit certain sale targets each week.

    You have just started training so you shouldn't be going near any supplements IMO . You should concentrate on getting your diet right ,then later on adding in supplements to improve your diet . Supplements should be added in around your diet not your diet built around supplements .

    Another thing I will say on this is how do you know a supplement works if your start taking 4 at once and have never took any of them before ? You need to try one or two at a time give it a time period then you have some sort of idea if that supplement has worked ,

    You don't need them to get results the crazy 14 day diet Educogym put you on at the start is going to cause "weight loss" due to the fact that your cutting all carbs and sugars from your diet . Most of this is water . They will then tell you after the 14 days you have lost x amounts of pounds of fat and gained x amount of muscle . Educogym is basically a money making franchise and nothing else .

    The training is poor and the value for money is poor .
