Remote Fuel Gauge for Outboard Fuel Tank

    Hello!

I was wondering, is it possible to install a remote fuel gauge near the transom or the console of a 16 ft PWC with outboard? The fuel tank is stored underneath a seat at the stern behind the console. There's a 12V battery stored in a separate compartment beside the fuel tank.

Is this possible, and if so, do I need any special type of fuel tank?

    Thanks!

Hi jma, depending on the size of your tank you could fit one of these http://www.marineparts.ie/engine-systems/fuel-1/fuel-senders/osculati-fuel-level-transmitter.html they are adjustable and if the tank is deep but if it is very shallow you may have to double check.
Some tanks have the hole cut in them and have a round plate covering it if not you will have to drill it out and then wash out the tank.

Thanks, fergal.b! I was actually just about to place an order on that site. I couldn't see any specs for the fuel senders though. I have a 25L tank. It would be similar in shape to the one below, only I think the handle is on the top rather than the side.

The transmitter you suggested - I wonder is the gauge pictured included...

I could always get a new tank too. How deep exactly would it need to be, do you know?

I think you will be fine with that tank, you could ring them to be sure and get the depth of the sender but should be no probs and yes you get the gauge with it.:D
