So im sitting in work and there is this guy that works across from me, but today is his last day working here. He has been left go because of the 'recession' and has worked long and hard for the past 4 years here. The management here are very, how can i say nicely 'up there own arse' and think there god's gift but we joke about it and get on about our day to day routine.

So this morning he came in quiet happy although it was his last day, went to the Office Supplies Room and basically robbed everything that he could fit into his bag.

He's now wondering around the place to see what else he can take..

Myself i think he's a legend:D, the management deserve it.

So my question today, has anyone done anything similar? anyone went on a mad riot on there last day??

Its my last day in work today........because I'm off on two weeks holidays, one of which I'll be off to Tenerife

Anyway, enjoy robbing your employer and getting caught and potetinally convicted, thus reducing chances of getting another job.

I took a car on my last day at work a few years ago
Company car that I was driving and wouldnt return it until they paid me what they owed me! They soon coughed up but then I had to buy a car. :(

There is nothing worth stealing from my place, even the computers are rubbish.

Maybe if he wasn't thieving from them they could afford to pay him

So he's been let go, and is now jeopardising his future job references for a handful of pens and A4 pads ?
    Not very clever really.

Warning signs are if he starts going on about his red stapler. Remove any incendiary-causing items that he may have on him.

A chap i know was told he would be let go, was given a few months heads up
He immediatly set about theiving loads of gear.
I rememeber one day calling to his house and his front room was like a hire company!
The company was quite a big company with Huge contracts. He was able to syphon off Compressors and tools.
In Fairness he broke his arse there never took a sick day and was treated quite badly. He ended up getting about 8 grands worth of gear flogged off.
His justification was his boss was an animal to him for 10 years and that was his retribution.:D

What does a guy with no job need with office supplies?

Management clearly only gave the "Recession" excuse because they knew there would be reprecussions if they gave the truthful "He's a complete retard" reason as to firing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,808 ✭✭✭✭chin_grin

I know a guy who wrote some code to syphon a cent from all clients business accounts in to their own personal account............oh wait........that never happened.

I told someone before that pulling a sickie shouldn't be advertised online.
That would doubly apply to robbing the company you work for. Ever thought that the "up their own arse" bosses might be reading this too.:)

I used to work in a garage selling cars. The lads told me a story about a fella that used to work there. On his last day he stole a car and the logbook for the car and had arranged to meet a customer and sold the car to the customer for about €10,000. Think he got away with it aswel!!

If his boss is anything like mine, not a chance.

He once asked one of the girls if she 'did the Internet in college?'.

It's pretty stupid if the OP is posting from his work computer alright......

Unless you've some complete rat working in IT... he should be grand.

First rule of thumb.... Different email account for signing up to stuff like this.... then don't leave your user names on any of the work computers or indeed use it unless you're posting run of the mill stuff in lets say the weather forum. Take yourself out of the search on facebook... don't use the email you provided work for your facebook account etc. anyone that doesn't already do or know this deserves to be found out...

So he robs a rake of stuff and is going to leave it in his bag all day while still in the Office. Everyone knows that for office business tax returns today is Stock Count Friday.

Whatever pleasure he gets out of it, when he's sitting at home on his couch next week in his pajamas at 3pm watching Maury or ER eating a yogurt with his finger surrounding by pens and pencils, it won't be as good.

By this time next week he'll be so racked with guilt he have drawn pictures of unicorns and rainbows in blue pen on all the walls of his house.

Tell him return them, they're hexed.

What ya do is grab a empty large box and fill it with small stuff that people won't really miss, stationary, laptops etc.... then get work to mail it to your house :D

i would not do this kind of thing, it is very easy to lose a good honest name, but a good honest name is priceless, and you watched and had fun about it with him, does this not involve you then in some way, since you think it is great crack, your job is your bread and butter, if it is found out which i hope for the companys sake it is, what will you do if you lose your job. companies lose thousands to people taking on a small scale, think about it,

I remember 10 years ago I worked with a travel company and I had gotten another job after handing my 4 weeks notice I decided over the coming weeks took few reams of paper, bits of stationary, and even on my last day I damaged their new photocoper by cracking the touch screen

    priceless

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,801 ✭✭✭✭Kojak

I knew of a worker in my old job who stole loads of jacks paper for her redundancy - when she was given her notice, she started to bring in gearbags and began to fill it to the brim with jacks paper.

She mustn't have had any newspaper at home....

WTF? He's only taking a few A4 pads and pencils, its not exactly going to amount to the business closing down. Me I wouldnt bother with that but I would understand anyone wanting to annoy/piss off a boss by taking all the pencils in the place. Also if its about a reference, I doubt the company is goin to give him a great reference anyway, if they've treated him this bad for years they wont give a **** about his future in terms of a reference.

still stealing, and if a person has say 6 staff, and if each one took home a4 pad and a biro every week, at the end of the year that adds up to alot, so as i say about employers, they have it hard, you know you can hire the country, but if you want to fire, you could end up in court,

Get a grip on reality. The guy is losing his job; so what if he robs some poxy stationary. It's his small way of taking back from the company and you'd try to deny him that tiny, minuscule little victory? Oh, and while we're at it - learn how to write properly - reading your post was painful.

Ah come on, everyone nicks some stationary from work and employers are well aware of it. Don't tell me you've never gone home with a pen from work in your pocket.

    Funny you should mention that.

I worked in a place onetime where one of the guys regular as clockwork every Monday morning went up to the stationery office and requested one of those large boxes of ballpoint pens which the idiots there always issued to him no questions asked.

    His wife owns a newsagents.

With the exception of the public service a lot of employers dont seem to take references too seriously these days anyway. Half the time theyre not even asked for/checked.

I have a friend who used to work for a multinational IT company. His whole team had been expecting the axe for a few months so when they were called into a meeting they presumed this was it. The company policy was to escort people off the premises as soon as they were let go to stop them from stealing data or causing damage. So they spent the morning stripping the office of books, software cds etc, everything loaded into their bags & cars, ready to go.

In the meeting they were told that they had got a reprieve and that the team would be kept on after all. So they had to sheepishly put everything back, trying not to let the bosses notice...
