Advice for (Lapsed) Jogger Please

I used to do quite a bit of jogging during my college days, as well as circuit training twice a week, and I've tried to keep the jogging habit going since then but I've been doing it less and less as the years go by.

Last year I tried to get back into the jogging but developed sciatica in my right leg. I went to a doctor and had it diagnosed and it eventually cleared up. I couldn't run for a few months so I started using exercise machines - rowing machine/bike - to keep fit.

However I miss the running and last week I started back at it - but after only two sessions I can feel the same sciatica type pain in my leg returning. It's not too bad at the moment but I don't want to run on it for fear of making it worse.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this happening? Maybe my stretching routine is not up to scratch? Would a physio be able to help?

I would like to keep running but I am worried that this will be a recurring issue. Has anyone had a similar experience in the past and how have you overcome it?

As per the charter I am not looking for medical advice as regards sciatica.
Thanks for any help anyone has to offer.

You say you are not looking for medical advice but any advice that you are asking for in relation to your problem, is in fact straying to close to that line.

Go to a relevant med professional - do a search for good physios near your location. All the best.
