For me being a United Fan

    To win the League
Reach the semi finals minimum of the Champions League
Have a good run in both domestic cups
Hernandez to score at least 25 goals
Rooney to play consistently well throughout the whole season touchwood he does not get a bad injury and to be in the reckoning for player of the year
And for more youngsters to break through to be regulars in the first team suck as Wellbeck, Cleverly, Pogba and Macheda.
Play our usual attacking entertaining football

For Leeds, I expect us to consolidate our form last season by comfortably reaching the playoffs at least but our signings don't indicate this will happen yet. Almost wish we'd kept Killkenney.

    Arsenal:

To finish in the top 4. At the moment with our squad it will be some achievement.
To go a season without hearing Wenger refer to someone as "like a new signing".
    Van Persie to stay fit.
When someone gets injured, not to hear a "10 days" prognosis.
    Rosicky to score.

    Bolton

    - Aim for Europe - preferably through winning silverware, as oppose to higher up the table
    - Not be borderline relegation - With Coyle, I don't forsee this being an issue. We had a good run last year, but inconsistencies took us very far away from top 5.

    Cork City

To gain promotion and win one of the cups.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,859 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

    Liverpool:

Luis Suarez to tear things up this season.
Hopefully top 4 in the league.
Carling cup give some of the youngsters a go, hopefully get a few games out of it.
FA Cup - would be nice to get to the business end for a first new Wembley appearance in the semis at least.
Champions league: Probably switch between RTE and Sky for this, and hopefully see a Spanish/Italian/German team win it.

    Sunderland:
    • As a fan of a club that's outside the Premier League's traditional top 8, first and foremost survival has to be the number 1 target. It should hopefully be a formality now, but it has to be said and recognised.

    • I'd hope that we'll be able to finish in the top 10 again, that would be a good season for me.

    • Finish above Newcastle and actually turn up on derby day.

    • I'd also hope that we can avoid another long win less run that usually seems to effect us come February.

    • We haven't done well in a cup since 2004, so hopefully we will take the cups seriously this year and progress much further than we have been doing in recent years. A QF in one at least would be nice, but I won't hold my breath and to be honest, it's not that important as I'd rather survive in the Premier League than end up like Portsmouth or Birmingham after winning a cup.

    • It's something that can be put down to simple bad luck, but we need to avoid another injury crisis this season. Last season was a joke and we constantly had 8 or more first team players out at any one time. Bruce has taken steps to address this with adding more technology to our training methods so fingers crossed that doesn't occur again.

    That's about it :pac:

The tl;dr version is basically a top 10 finish and above Newcastle.

    lads im only asking like...

Spending so much money and not getting a Cl spot would be very bad for business and I know you may not like to hear it but Kenny's manager role could become untenable

    Arsenal

Sell Fabregas and Nasri and still win the league, while both players win feck all and end up on the bench :)

    Villa:

-continue with inconsistent form, eventually finishing mid-table, sell Darren Bent at some stage, Lerner to put the club up for sale, McLeish to be let go.

    Arsenal

Whip a number of 'smaller' teams in the first three months and have everyone fapping over us.

Lose twice to Chelsea and United.

Reach the KO 16 of the CL and be knocked out by a big team after Wenger costs us top spot in the group by fielding the reserves in the last two group games.

Have any semblance of a challenge begin it's annual collapse in February which leads to us being in the battle for fourth by early March.

Wenger tell us repeatedly that injured players returning are like a new signing and there's no need to sign new players.

Wenger telling us that he tried to sign a CB but the selling team wanted too much when in reality he only offered £3M and a useless youth team player on loan for Cahill in order to be able to use this excuse.

Barcelona to not shut up about Fabregas.

van Persie to let his contract run down to the final year so he can leave on the cheap when he realises that once again, we won't win anything.

RVP, Fabregas and Walcott to miss at least 3 months of the season each.

    Arsenal fan

A lot of stability is needed for the upcoming season. Van Persie and Gervinho to gel together would be fantastic. Lot's of goals please. A lot of strength in midfield and Jack the lad to have a blinder. Be great for England too as this is the season Capello will be watching with the Euro's the following summer. Bring in Samba or Cahill please to add a no-nonsense defensive approach. Far too many goals conceded from set plays last year. I've seen the players on tv/online in training and they look very comfortable and confident. Hopefully with nobody paying any attention to us we can have a good season with expectations lower than before.

    Finish in the top 4
Do well in both domestic cups (Carling Cup win would be nice)
Quarter Finals of the Champions League.
    NO INJURIES PLEASE

For some reason I am quietly confident we will have a good season and do better than the media thinks.

    Spurs fan

Top 4 finish is a must this year, though it will be even tougher this year with Liverpool more then likely challenging. And without a quality striker being signed in the next few weeks, i don't see it happening. Would absolutely love to finish above Arsenal and avoid another St Totteringham's Day as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

    Chelsea
    • Challenge for the EPL and hopefully win it.
    • Win the FA cup and give the young guys a chance in the League cup, possible Quarter or Semi Final finish depending on draw and luck.
    • Semi's of the Champions League.
    • Torres to find his form and fitness again and hit 20+ goals.
    • Villas-Boas to keep his job for at least 10 minutes.
Team is in transisation with a new, young manager. He will bring us success again no doubt, once he gets the chance that is.

    - a strong challenge for 4th.
    - the team playing football that i enjoy watching.

    Newcastle United

    - Survival is still key. We had a terrific season last year for a newly promoted team so I'm hoping we can capitalise on certain mistakes from last year.

    - Another demolishing of 5under1and would be lovely.

    - Stability.

    - Cup runs: I'd like to get far in the Carling Cup and have a look at some of our promising young talent coming through but it's not really a necessity because we've a pretty tread bare squad as it is so league should be priority.
    Same goes for FA Cup.

    - Overall I'd like a top ten finish but I'd take 17th right now.

    Sunderland

    - Happy to get top 10 but think we can potentially get 7th or 8th

    - Turn up for the Derbies for a change

    - A nice cup run which might potentially get European football cause when you see the likes of Brum and Stoke in Europe you do get envious

    - Sessegnon to get on team of the season.

    Spot on.

Was reading through the thread thinking a lot of people were getting the words 'expect' and 'hope' mixed up.

Really the start of season expectations are to challenge for the top 4. This for me means finishing anywhere between 3rd and 6th, but I wouldn't necessarily say that it we didn't live up to expectations if we don't get it. At the moment we are 5th favourites. We've got a great chance but it's naive and perhaps a bit arrogant to say we should be expecting to finish 4th.

On top of this a challenge for the FA Cup would be a bonus. And a progression in the squad and at least a 10 point improvement (maybe more like 15) on last years points tally.

    United...

    Club...

    Win the league
Good run in the Carling Cup using the kids
Semi Final at least in the CL
I'd love us to win the FA Cup, it's been too long.

    Players....

    Rooney/Hernandez/Berbatov to shine despite rotation.
Anderson to have the type of season that justifies his place at the club
    (like Nani last year)
Evra to get back to his best after what I consider a poor season by his standards.
One of the Twins to establish themselves at RB

    Misc...

Berba to bring back the alice band
De Gea to grow a proper beard.
