    Hey,

I have the distance I cycle and the time it takes me to cover the distance.

how do I get my (avg) speed?

s=d/t seems to be the formula, but for my parameters 22.2km/00:52:45

    I'm getting 606:eek:

Your speed is just over 25 km/h

    52:45 = 0.8792 hrs

    Speed = 22.2/0.8792 = 25.25 km/h

Yup that's how i got my figure.

    52.45/60

You want to find it in terms of hours, so 52.45 is .87 of an hour

    52mins and 45 seconds = 52.75mins = 52.75/60 = 0.8792hrs:)

if u are using OpenOffice (or even Excel) to record your training, you could use this formula to calculate the average speeds...

    =B1/(A1*24)

This is where the distance is in Cell B1 and the Time is in Cell A1

So, to enter times, just format the cell for 'time' (right click) and pick the '13:47:46' format. As an example then for a 100km spin you can enter:
    02:55:00 as your time
    100 as your distance
the average speed then would be 34.29 km/h

    hth,
    andy

you realise you're responding to a ten year old thread?
the OP is (by my calculations) 2.2 million km away by now, assuming he kept up that speed.

I hope you weren't basing your calorie intake on cycling at 600kph...
I'd like to see those Garmin numbers :D
