    Im 6ft1 11 stone roughly. I want to gain strength but also want to look toned. I am going to the pool/gym in half an hour need some advice. I plan doing the plank for a while. Anyone have youtube links to other easy core exercises. I then plan to go swimming. What is the best stroke for my needs? Would 20 lengths of a 20m pool front crawl be of any use to me? I want to get fit for football but also look stronger.

    Swimming won't make you stronger, nor will the plank or other core excercises.

    Do you want to look stronger or be stronger.

    If you want to look "toned", you'll need to drop bodyfat. That's all.
