This happened a friend. They now swear they will never join a gym again. Personally, I'd go for a 3 month membership or something like that and take a chance.

Happened a gym near me: Platinum Gym - Derry

They only charged 40 pounds for annual membership which, obviously, wasn't sustainable.

They actually rang a friend during the last week (when they obviously knew they were going bankrupt) offering a special deal if he "paid cash this week".

I'm a member of a nearby gym. I joined last year when my goal was weight-loss. They have an impressive collection of cardio equipment.

During the year, the goal changed to muscle gain. I was annoyed that they don't have a squat rack - didn't look one when I joined because I wouldn't have know what it was.

My year is almost up and, today, I've paid up for a squat rack, bench and olympic weights set. Should be here next week :D

This is the main reason we have no contract in Ironside. This reassures people joining that if we close tomorrow you dont lose anything more than a place to train...

If you are paying for 12 months membership all in one go, do so by credit card. That way, you can apply for a chargeback if the gym goes bust midway through the year.
