He's a freak. However I just don't think he's good enough to be a top pro. Also don't overlook the fact that he's short, which is actually very important in pro competitions.., maybe he could do very well in the new 202 or 212 class, not sure of his weight though?

Short guys like Shawn Ray, Lee Labrada, Lee Priest, were fcuking unreal.. and they never got a look in at the O... The sports evolved even more since they competed. You think Lesukov is better than them?

    Chris Dickerson - 5ft7
    Samir Bannout - 5ft 8
    Frank Zane 5ft9

Not exactly dwarfs, but they all won the Mr Olympia title competing against taller and heavier opponents, e.g. Robbie Robinson, Ken Waller, Lee Haney (finished 3rd in 1983).

But yeah, they tend to always favour the big guys even if they are not the best. Love him or loathe him, Shawn Ray should definitely have won at least 1 Mr Olympia title.

An unfortunate reality of professional (non-tested) bodybuilding.
There are clean bodybuilding competitions out there so dont let it put you off the sport completely. :)

As for short guys, Lee Priest was just mindblowing at his best shape, but the little guys struggle a bit to get the points for some reason.

Anyone want to shed some light on why this might be? Is it because judges assume that the taller competitors have a tougher time to gain proportion? Favouritism perhaps?

I think a large part of it has to do with marketability.

The average height of males worldwide tends to range between 5ft9-5ft11.

Joe Weider wants everyone buying his mags and supplements to believe that they too can look like their bodybuilding idols. To achieve this, he needs to promote people who look like the "after" version of you, i.e. the you with 50-100 pounds of muscle added to your frame :D

If all Mr Olympia winners were the height of Franco Columbo (5ft5), then people would perhaps begin to think that you need to be short in order to be that size.

Can you imagine Arnold winning 7 Mr Olympias and achieving all his success, even outside of bodybuilding (movies, politics) if he was 5ft2 and not 6ft2? As unfair and unreasonable as it is, I can't.

Obviously Joe is always quick to link their physiques to them all following his magical "Weider Principles" (and never their amazing genetics and steroid use), but hey he has products to sell and he's made millions from all of it over the years.

There's no new 202 class I'm sorry to say. From after the Olympia its changing to the 212 like you mentioned. If they keep changing the weight it will the 252 class before you know it :D
