    Hi
I have the new 21.5 iMac and has 4 gig of ram (DDR3 1333 MHz *2)
Now i have 2 1gig (DDR2 SDRAM) here from my old 20inch iMac.
Can i install this into my new iMac to make it 6 gigs or will it mess my system up with 2 different speeds of ram?

    Thanks

never mix ram, your system will either beep and not boot up or run at the slower speed so negating the 4MB of DDR3 @ 1333MHz

it other words dont do it!

Why don't you sell your old iMac on adverts.ie and use the money to buy some suitable RAM?

The two types of chip are keyed differently so it should not be possible to make it fit.
The older ram also runs at higher voltage.

As bonnieprince said, don't attempt it. See if you can get a few quid by selling the old memory on if the old machine can't be sold on in full.
