Nope, the people posting here will be posting here because

    1. they don't want to go to Galway
    2. they can't afford to go to Galway
    3. Are afraid of Galwegians
    4. they can't make it to Galway for whatever reason

Anyone found to be trolling this thread WILL be banned.

Is it a Dublin City forum beers or a Dublin AH beers?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

Is it a Dublin City forum beers or a Dublin AH beers?

Well, can't it both? Does the name of it matter much anyway?

I PMd super-rush about the possibility of running a beers in Dublin, parallel to the AH one, in case anyone from Dublin/elsewhere couldn't make it to the Galway one, and run them concurrently.

He agreed it was a good idea, as he PMd me back giving the green light, after I assume, a discussion with the other AH Mods?? Or the organisers of the AH Galway Beers??

Anyway, we've the thread in here now, and a link to it in the AH Galway Beers Thread, which was put there by a AH Mod.

Think of it as a joint venture. :)

The Barge is in Portobello, 2 minutes from Harcourt St, therefore the city. ;)

like gav said, its a 2 minute walk from harcourt and right beside charlemont luas

I think it would be better for everybody if it was held city centre..what do people think of the Flowing Tide like last time? They have a beer garden too.

    the oval?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,974 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

    the oval?

If I do manage to get to it I would +1 this, nice few seats out the front, and a quality pint.

seriously AOF, it would take us about 2 hours to get there - it needs to be in the city centre

its would be like me saying sure why not have it in the Brian the Boru, its only 5 mins from Dorset Street but people will be getting multiple forms of transport to get there.

are you working Saturday evening btw

The barge is 5 minutes from the wrong end of harcourt street... city centre me hole, it's at the very border of the "city"

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 10,661 ✭✭✭✭John Mason

    What about the Hop House?

They have a big beer garden or the Living Room - they have a beer garden too

Only moved to Dublin a few months ago. Are newbies welcome!? The Barge would be a great venue for it too.

I would have liked to go to both beers if they were on different nights but I've already committed to the Galway ones now :(

    Cant you go to both?
Phil Collins travelled between the two Live Aid concerts back in 1984 so i dont see why you cant manage two beers.

the next person posting here to

    1. bitch
    2. go off topic
    3. reply to trolling

is getting a lengthy ban, now cop on the lot of you, if you have a problem take it to PM, don't clog up this forum with your petty childishness, thanks

It's already been explained in the AH thread that Degsy had absolutely nothing to do with setting up this beers, apart from starting the thread.

I, myself, PMd the AH Mods about it, and they agreed with me and OKd the setting up of this thread, now either accept that or call myself and the AH Mods liars.

    Go on, I dare you.

The Mercantile on Dame St or The Grand Social on Liffey St?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 16,397 ✭✭✭✭Degsy

MacTurkails? They also do decent platters.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,515 ✭✭✭✭admiralofthefleet

ill be there no matter what the venue. if the weather is nice somewhere with an outside garden would be great

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,762 ✭✭✭✭stupidusername

i'm not so much a fan of the grand social, awful stuffy in there.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 16,397 ✭✭✭✭Degsy

Actually i dont think macturkails has a beer garden.

if you want a beer garden why not maguire, the hop house or the living room and then there is always fibbers

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 16,397 ✭✭✭✭Degsy

Aint never been in the Living Room..not too keen on fibbers these days.

We need some suggestions so we can put it to a vote.

    D2?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 783 ✭✭✭No1J

Haven't been to one of these before but sounds like a bit of craic. What's the turn out like? Maguire's and MacTurkail's are good sized and central, the Barge is a bit out of town.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

Is a beer garden central to the plan?

Why not indeed..most ev'body know they're the best craic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,383 ✭✭✭✭Birneybau

Well, The Long Stone is pretty much beside MacTurcaill's, has a big enough beer garden. Pitchers last time I was in there too.

Oh, O'Reilly's on Tara St. has all pints for e3:20 and a little bit of a beer garden (that gets no sun).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,762 ✭✭✭✭stupidusername

won't be making this after all.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 16,397 ✭✭✭✭Degsy

    Okies so venue-wise we have

    The Living Room
    O'Reilly's
    The FLowing Tide
    MacTurkails
    The Grand Central

    Anywhere else that i've missed?
We need to decide a venue soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,954 ✭✭✭✭Larianne

Can you put street names with those venues as I don't where some of them are? :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,974 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

The Living Room - Cathal Brugha St
O'Reilly's - Back of Tara St station
The FLowing Tide - Abbey St just at the Luas stop
MacTurkails - Townsend St (I think), just up from the Screen cinema.
The Grand Central - O'Connell St/Abbey St junction
