I'm not reading anything about season 3 because I was disappointed at times with season 2 having read spoilers and stuff during it. I figured most of the twists and things out before seeing them and it kind of ruined it for me, especially compared to season 1 where I knew nothing.
I'm not really that excited about season 3 to be honest.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is set to guest on the show!!!! Well, OK, not so much Buffy. But a vampire slayer, at least. The incoming character, named Eric (a nod to True Blood’s sexiest fanger?), is a middle-aged hottie who, from what I hear, is sorta like Indiana Jones with a stake instead of a whip. In possibly related news, check out what EP Julie Plec told us at Comic-Con when asked her if there were plans to introduce a baddie bigger than Klaus this season. “I would definitely say that Klaus isn’t the worst baddie that we’ve seen so far. It will be fun to see who’s going to steal his thunder eventually as we get deep into Season 3.” Hmm…

Fringe and Supernatural alum Sebastian Roché has been cast on The Vampire Diaries

as a mysterious man who appears to be hunting vampires, specifically Klaus (Joseph Morgan). "For some reason, Klaus, who shouldn't be afraid of anybody, seems to be concerned about this person," executive producer Julie Plec tells the magazine.
The yet-to-be-named recurring character was originally described in casting breakdowns as "rugged, handsome, charming and dangerous." It is unknown when exactly Roché will make his Vampire Diaries debut, but the role was originally being cast for the third episode of Season 3.

Bad Stefan just makes me laugh, what's wrong with me? Though kudos to Paul on the last scene, 'twas heartbreaking.And that song! TVD music kicks bum.
Also sad to see Andy go, I kinda liked her.

I liked it! Thought there was enough action for a first episode.
Ooh Mrs.Lockwood you are devious! Poor Caroline, how many times has she been shot!
My heart was breaking at the end during that phonecall. Very emotional!
I'm liking the Klaus and Stefan trip of terror (:P) but Stefan putting the bodies back together is too creepy!
Building up to be an interesting season. Klaus making more hybrids, Mrs Lockwood and Caroline (if that lasts past the next episode) and Jeremy's sixth sense. Still curious about that, especially after Vicky's "help me".

Pretty solid opening episode. We know Stefan has gone rogue but he still cares, which Klaus knows too. I'm kinda glad Andie is gone because I found her a bit annoying.

Jeremy is still seeing dead vamps, but we've not learned anymore on that. I imagine that will develop out over the next few episodes.

Caroline and Taylor finally got it together but I wasn't expecting the surprise Caroline got at the bottom of the stairs!!!

The last scene with Stefan on the phone to Elena was highly emotive and the song made it even more so.

All in all a pretty good opening first episode!

Quite a good epiosde. Have to say i'm a bit disappointed with the Stefan storyline; just seems a mirror of Damons storyline- sympathy for main character even though he's killing loads of innocent people. Glad they've given a new storyline to Jeremy- interested to see where that one goes- I presume it's not a brain aneurysm. also Matt is a bit interesting as a snarky ex.
Also what's with Damon's hair- it's a bit strange looking!

I wasn't really feeling it at all until that last scene. Poor Stefan Although I was not impressed with his treatment of Andy Star Action News!! I knew she was a gonner as soon as I saw her in the bathroom and thought to myself, oh I quite like her. That's a sure sign someone's about to die

It's weird, for most of season 1 and a good part of season 2 I didn't like Stefan/Elena at all. That's not to say I was a fan of Damon/Elena but if I had to chose I'd have gone D/E. Since about half way through season 2, when they started laying on the D/E stuff pretty heavy I find I don't like it. That scene at the end with the phone call between Stefan and Elena had me firmly rooting for them again.

As for the rest of the episode, I'm not sure I care about any of the other plots going on. Caroline and Tyler, no, no, no, no, NO!!
I'm sick of people shooting Caroline too.

p.s. Bonnie lives in a phone now?

Weirdly...i'm the same! :eek: - i've watched ep. 1/2 and not commented!, the show feels VERY different!, the tone is all wrong, it's like a different show!....Kevin Williamson has left the building, yeah....he has!, he's been working on Secret Circle. It feels like the show is being handled by new showrunners.

It feels like it's gone to pandering to shippers, it's lighter, no shockers or twists, it really feels VERY different!

^ It's like all of a sudden the whole concept of the show is ridiculous. I honestly can't believe it's the same show. Maybe it needs more time to set up the big arcs and everything but it never needed time before. It just ploughed straight into massive story lines every week, now I don't even know if anything's happening?

I used to watch it first thing every Friday morning but now it's Monday/Tuesday before I even remember to. I guess I'll give it a little bit longer but unless Katherine shows up again pretty damn quick I might not last until the winter hiatus.

You know what guys, I've been feeling exactly the same. The show doesn't feel right, and not even the sudden introduction of HRG could get much of a reaction from me.

At least Bonnie only exists in the computer now though. Small mercies?

Quite disconcering that they have brought the HRG actor to play the exact same role as in Heros., part of some shadowy group trying to keep the supernatural world secret while also having a (blonde) daughter who is supernatural. He's a natural for the job.

The ghost nikki stroyline is not very appealing and the werewolve story just seems a retread of last years. As they are only powerful for a very short duration they just end up being pretty useless.

Here's hoping it picks up over the next few episodes

Agree with the above. I'll probably watch a few more anyway, but really not interested in it any more. It was never any where near one of my favourites, but was decent, but no I couldn't care less about it.

Last nights episode started really well because there was Katherine!!!! But then there was no more Katherine until the very end, so I was not happy. Also, I find it very hard to believe that Katherine would be anywhere near Klaus. She spent 500 years running from him and then decides to just follow him around? What?

I thought ep. 3 was the best one of S3, it looked terrific, had noce flashbacks + Katherine!, twas pretty meaty as well and we got alot of backstory, like the origin of Elena's pendant etc, Lexi got name checked, Claire Holt was good as Rebecca + i like the way Stefan got fleshed out and how he was compelled to forget then remember his past.

The whole Caroline and her daddy issues was sorta filler side story, i guess HRG and Sherrif Mom will all hug a vampire now, was that Elena's father in the 1920's?...the Chicago detective?, that was a bit more like it...felt somewhat closer to the first two seasons, but something is still missing, i am missing the genuine twists/shockers that are a trademark of TVD.

yeah good episode, glad to see there's someone Klaus may fear. Not sure what the point was of Stefan killing all those people in horrible ways in the last few episodes though- he says he's reverting to what he was before but he does not act like he has a blood lust or under some sort of addiction- he doesn't seem to enjoy it so why does he do it? I swear every black character that come's in contact with this show is a witch. Don't think the cop tthat cam in at the ending and was hunting Klaus has been in the show before, definiteyl not Elena's Dad

SUPERB! ...woo hoo! , wow...that was an amazing episode!!....now *that* was TVD i remember!

Twisty as hell, brilliant!....first off Katherine!! , she had me fooled!...haha, when she sat down with Bonnie and got the necklace and then she fooled Damon!, excellent..brilliatnt acting from Dobrev as i totally thought she was Elena!

Caroline....awesome!, when she fought Damon! :eek: ...utter class, even the stuff with Jeremy and Anna was great, also great was the story of Rebecca/Klaus and Stefan....they are back in Mystic Falls! :eek:

Alaric was great also, he's definately getting a very interesting story now, on the council?...actively protecting her from Damon etc?

From start to finish it was actions packed, twisty and gripping....i feel liek we've turned a corner...i hope it keeps up!!!!!!

Ep. 5 was all kinds of AWESOME!!....yup, TVD is back!...firing on all cylinders!, jesus....soooo much happened!, the biggie i guess is Stefan....looks like Stefan is the new Damon and Damon is now Stefan. Stefan minus emotions....BAFM!, Damon...whipped!, twas Elena's blood then that did the hybrid thingy after all. Tyler is a hybrid, Matt can see ghosts, Elena got chomped on several times, Klaus is still a douche and his sis is still a bratty princess!

All in all twas all kinds of wonderful, i was really worried the show had gone to hell, those first three eps. were pants....but tis back people!

Going to be interesting with emotionally challenged Stefan around. Awh, I felt sorry for Damon when he was handing the necklace to Elena saying he got it back for her and she was mooning on about Stefan as per usual!!

Looking forward to the rest of the season. Looks like Katherine and Jeremy are waking up trouble with a capital T !

YES! Episode 5 was great. They should've dumped 1-4 and opened the season with this one. Although I guess they were building up to it so they were all necessary, but still, good to see it back on form.

I'm not sure I like the idea of them basically doing a flip reverse with Damon and Stefan. They're going to have to be very careful to not just be rehashing season 1 with them.

I never liked Tyler and I like him even less now that he gets to be warewolf and vampire. No fair!

And yay for Matty Blue Eyes getting storylines all of his own. I really liked him and Bonnie, and Bonnie for that matter, which is a new occurrence for me. Keep her away from Jeremy forever and I could be back on board with this show.

Wow, amazing episode. Actually, I think this was my favourite so far.

So it looks like by bringing Vicki back Matt/Bonnie opened up a door to all of the supernatural "dead" being back and physically able to do things in the here and now. Welcome back Mason! So who else is coming back?? Lexi, Jenna?

Mikael's awake and he doesn't feed on the living, oh no, he feeds on Vampires! Poor Katherine. I hope she's not dead.

Was a good idea to bring back a lot of characters from season 1 in ghost form but it just reminded me how many great characters they had in that season , and that anyone could be killed off. It's got a bit too settled now. Now that Jeremy is no longer the ghost whisperer on the show he'll go back to having no purpose, which is a pity. Bit hypocritical for Elena for getting mad at her brother for having a kiss with his dead girlfriend considering she's nearly getting it on with two vampires who have huge bodycounts behind them

Frustrating episode last night....and not in a good way for me. Setting things up and backing out in a huge way à la Prison Break not impressed and finding it harder and harder to watch.....

It's really gone down hill. I'm only half watching episodes these days.

Someone mentioned it already about the ghost reminding us how many great characters they've gotten rid of. I really liked Anna, she made Jeremy bearable and her mother was great too. Lexi of course was great for the one episode she was "alive" in too. Another thing I noticed was that pretty much all of the ghosts are dead because of Damon. Makes me dislike him.

Ian Somerhalder used to be pretty great as Damon but he's just doing that eye thing all the time now and smirking a lot. I don't know if he can't act or isn't enjoying playing tame Damon but it's not working for me at all.

Even Caroline, who was the 2nd best character last season is being dragged down by Tyler and his crappy storyline.

Katherine remains the one consistently brilliant thing about the show, and of course she's just taken off again.

I don't get the ratings increase either as these episodes are terrible compared to season 1 and most of season 2. Maybe that's why they've increased though? The CW target audience weren't able for such a fast paced complicated story line so they've dumbed it down a bit?
