Storage of home made energy bars

So I made my own batch of energy bars, to take with me on longer spins out on the bike. Here's what went into them:

    Honey
    Peanut Butter
    Walnuts
    Oatmeal
    Dark Chocolate
    Dried Cranberries

The set last night in the fridge, so at the moment I'm storing them in a ziploc bag in the fridge. How long can I expect them to last, and is that the best way to store them? (should I store them in a cupboard, freezer etc?)

    Cheers :)

I made something similar and used some whey protein powder.
I ate mine up to 5days later from the fridge.

you could freeze them if you wanted to make a big batch to last longer, and take them out the night before

    OP
Can u describe the process of making them? It sounds gorgeous but i am wondering did u blend by hand or with food processor? did you melt the chocolate? etc etc?
    thanks!

scottie pippen: thanks I'll try freezing them so.

all_smilz: I basically copied a recipe and added the dried cranberries and walnuts myself. They turned out really nice in the end, if a little sticky. Maybe a litte too much peanut butter. (My fault, not the recipe's :P ). They were quite cheap to make too. I got everything in Tesco, don't have the receipt, but off the top of my head:

Tesco Value Oatmeal - 77c - Still have at least two thirds left
Tesco Walnut halves - 90c/bag, used one bag, squashed up
Tesco Value Honey - 1.20ish/jar, used one jar
Tesco Chunky Peanut Butter 700g - 2.30ish/jar, used 2/3ish of jar
Tesco Dried Cranberries - 1.29/bag, used one bag
Tesco 85%Cocoa Chocolate - 1.09/bar, used one bar

So like, around a fiver, for 8 or 9 really decent sized bars, with leftovers for more bars. :)

I copied this recipe, and added the walnuts and cranberries with the chocolate.

out of curiosity, seeign as everything was in multiples of whole packets or half packets etc. did you workout the calories per bar. All pretty high in cal foods, but all good sources.

Mellor: I didn't work it out, no, but no reason as to why I wouldn't be able to. I'll do that sometime today and get back to you.

Ilizza92: I wouldn't really say I have a heavy diet. These bars aren't something I eat everyday. For example, I went out on the bike yesterday, took one of these bars and a banana, stopped halfway for more water and a galaxy caramel. Was cycling for 104km, and that kept me going easy enough (could have done with more water though :P ).

I wouldn't dream of eating them just on a regular day, (unless there was some circumstance where I knew I wouldn't be able to eat for most of the day)

Crush the walnuts, chocolate and chop up the cranberries
    Mix together with oatmeal
    Heat peanut butter to soften
Mix in Honey and peanut butter at the same time in small bits

Would be how I'd so it.
You could leave out chocolate and melt and pour over too

And he'll get back on the calories :D
