It will probably be the 22nd or 23rd this year. Why is your text so big? It's annoying, weird and a potential ignore list reason

Anyone know when and were tickets are on sale - really wanna see Paloma Faith @ Whelan's? Might check into WAV tomorrow and ask them, also booking next day off work may be advisable!

August 4th via Ticketmaster. As stated above. You won't know who is playing where tho. Paloma Faith has not been confirmed for Whelans just confirmed to play somewhere.

I know it is confirmed now but I doubt they would have it on a friday or saturday any year if they can manage it, purely for marketing reasons, i.e. the pubs are busy fridays & saturdays anyway, and the proper venues would get higher prices on fridays & saturdays too.

Its weird how much these subsidised gigs annoy people, I never saw nearly the same upset caused by the bud rising and heineken green energy gigs -also subsidised to have cheap tickets. I just view whole aurthurs "day" as tongue in cheek.

Aren't the acts playing the main venues usually announced before tickets go on sale and then they each play a secret venue later in the night?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 15,577 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

The Enemy, Seasick Steve, DJ Fresh, Labrinth, Yasmin & Maverick Sabre have just been added to the Arthur's Day line up!!
Tickets go on sale at 9am on 4th August but we'll have a special announcement for our Facebook fans at 4pm today...

Most places will be sold out by the time the artists are announced.

Yeah I know - not sure which venue would be the best - never been before.

Wouldn't mind seeing Stereophonics play, likely the Storehouse.

Pre-sale tix were gone in seconds this morning, as usual.

Any word on who is playing in galway ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 566 ✭✭✭SB-08

Wouldn't mind seeing the Stereophonics for only 15 quid. Anyone know if the headliners actually play a full set or if it's just 30 mins - an hour?

Not a full set, from memory they do about 45mins I think and the support do about 30mins, someone else may remember better though.

It will be a DJ set, he said a while back he would never perform live again.

Has anyone managed to get tickets? Tried a few venues but seem to be sold out, I had a presale code yesterday and it was the same story. Is it sold out already??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,288 ✭✭✭✭Standard Toaster

Is it on a Thursday each year to keep the publicans happy or for any other reason (there probably is some bullsh1t official reason)?. With certain numbers of people always going out on a Friday and Saturday would it just be seen as a "waste" of a potential earner to have it on a weekend night?. Realistically i can't go out boozing on a Thursday and a few mates are the same, so don't end up going near Arthur's Day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,058 ✭✭✭JJ

I got a ticket in the presale and figure that if I don't like any of the acts at the venue I have tickets for, I could look around Toutless or Twitter for anyone who wants to trade.

It's probably because it's cheaper to rent out the venues on a Thursday night rather than Friday or Saturday.

There was probably a limited number of presale tickets aswell, I got tickets for Dakota in the end (thanks to Standard Toasters post!!). Never know, given it's name Stereophonics might show up for a few songs!

Limited number of tickets went on pre-sale. I had two codes and was on two computers put one code in at 9.00 and the other in 30 seconds later and the tickets were gone for the second code. Still managed to get tickets on the first code so happy days!
