cardio pre weights session?

Just looking for some advice regarding doing cardio warm-up before a weights session. Is it a good idea or am I just tiring myself out before I do my lifts?

Now I'm not talking about doing a marathon here just 10 / 15 minutes to build up a bit of a sweat, though I do tend to give it my all.

Should I be doing this or should I do a quick cardio like the m-100 or just jump straight into the weights and leave cardio for a specific cardio day?

Its just that I never see anyone else in the weights area doing cardio pre-weights.

    Any advice?

For me it's a personal thing. During winter when it's cold I'll do cardio to get warmed up before warm up sets. In summer when the gym is warmer, I'll just do some punch bag or joint movement. You won't wreck yourself doing a few mins cardio

You should do a warm up set of the same weights exercises which you'll be doing during your session, but with lighter weights - about 8 reps.

cheers for that. While I'm not falling off the cross trainer after my warm up, I've certainly increased my heart rate. Part of my reason for asking whether this warm up is necessary is to cut down on overall gym time midweek.
