I'm wondering whether anyone here has had it done?. I'm interested in it from my abdomen? Do results last and how do you feel afterwards?. I have read new research which suggests the fat returns a year later higher up in the body? Does it? Am about a stone and a half heavier since I developed a knee problem and thus struggle to exercise as I previously did.

    I'd appreciate any experiences.

    Danke

I don't think you'll get any information regarding liposuction here. I know nothing about it but...

If someone was to get it and then continued to eat badly then yes, of course they'd gain the fat/weight back.

Have you honestly spent a year or three eating purely healthy? Good fats, protein, vegetables by the plenty and a bit of fruit? If you haven't then I can't imagine considering this being a wise option, just a waste of time, especially you get it done.

You're better off posting up your stats, what you want to change and what you eat on a daily basis. Good luck :)

AFAIK, the fat cells cannot grow back, but obviously the weight can come back - it just goes somewhere else.

How do you distinguish between fat and weight? Is there a programmed weight for the body which can only be changed through natural means?. As in is there roots to the fat cells which will grow back unless theyr'e shed through a natural weight loss programme?.

You put on weight because you ate too much consistantly.
If you couldn't excercise then you shoudl of been eating less.

If you've eaten enough over the years to get so fat that you require liposuction, that fat will return because you're probably going to keep eating too much because you never learned how to diet in the first place...

However if you get liposuction and eat at/below maintenance kcals it won't return. It'd be a rare person that pulls that off tho.

Lipo just reeks of a bandaid solution.

Why not put in some effort with eating and see a physio or personal trainer to see if there is any way to exercise? At least it would be something to be proud of.

Being put under anesthetic, having your skin punctured open, and then having the fat literally sucked out of you really isn't a 'quick fix without the toil'. Not to mention the possible complications and painful recovery period.

If you get liposuction to remove fat around your neck, do you eventually end up with a spare tyre around your forehead?

Totally just wondering, I would love to see stats about that?

I have heard from several places that a huge amount of people who have won "Slimmer of the Year" ["I lost 12 stone in 1 year" type award] have put most of their weight back on, as once they hit their goal weight they go off their "500 calorie" regime and slowly go back to the old habits. [I was actually terrified, for a brief period, that would happen to me when I lost all my weight, but that was a good thing, as it kept me on track!]

Likewise, having the fat sucked out of you, without learning the hard lessons many of us learned loosing weight conventionally [ie: slowly/properly] - would the same thing happen?

I wouldn't say its all of those people. You see those biggest loser type shows, where the people really lose an incredible amount of weight, the right way. They appear to come out the other end genuinely liking exercise and enjoying eating right.

On the other hand, people who lose a lot of weight (12 stone in a year for example) can only do so with a huge deficit, and a crash diet. The effect of being of such a severe deficit for so long likely leaves their metabolism in bits. Basically their body adapts and their BMR is very low. So the normal amount of calories for maintenance for their new weight is actually above maintenance for them,

Here's a link to the first ever randomised controlled study of liposuction: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21475140

At 6 weeks, the liposuction group was significantly leaner than the control group. At 6 months, the difference between the two groups had decreased. At one year, it had decreased further and the difference between the groups was no longer statistically significant. Furthermore, the liposuction group regained fat disproportionately in the abdominal area (belly), which is more dangerous than where it was before.

All this info is taken from this blog post: http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2011/05/liposuction-and-fat-regain.html The comments on the post are of particular interest as the person called Itsthewoo2 discusses being on an Amgen clinical trial where they received leptin injections

I had liposuction on myself last year and I did not face any side-effects after the surgery. I just had a bit of numbness in my body but it disappeared after a month. I think if you are planning for liposuction then you should surely give it a try as I am quite happy with the results which I have observed.

Yetsin - How much does liposuction cost at the Australian Plastic Surgery clinic you're spamming?

it's not that hard to lose weight if you have a little bit of discipline. 6kgs is very little weight to cut (especially of your overweight.) i'd suggest you save your money for something better and just eat properly for a few weeks.

(and no, lipo-sucton will not be permanant, you'll put weight on as normal)

If you have a couple of thousand euro to spend on liposuction, would you put towards getting a personal trainer and dietician instead?
