I used to think this was just a name given to a bbq wild west type of flavour but after talking to a friend of mine who was reminiscing about his childhood he mentioned buffalo in a field near where he grew up, said the property belonged to Perri Crisps.

So I made the obvious connection. Any insight?

Nah buffalo don't taste like buffalo in crisps. You have to use horses instead.

They don't use the meat. They just wring the juices out of them like a towel to flavour the crisps!

    Eh.....read the ingredients!

Yeah they use buffalo in buffalo favored hunky dorys. You can see the buffalo in fenced off fields near Perri.

What about Perri Rape crisps? Are they made with actual rape? How do they get the rape into the crisps? Did I dream about rape crisps?

Funnily enough the man behind manufacturing buffalo hunky dorys in Ireland actually keeps buffalo. Think its the only herd in the country.

Damn right they do, Sure they almost wiped out the whole species once the cowboys realised how tasty the crisps were...

This is 100% true. There is a field full of Buffalo right beside the Perri factory in Ashbourne. No joke. I dont think that they are actually sacrificed for the sake of the crisps though :D:D

There are indeed a herd of Bison(around 20) in Ashbourne, and have been for 15 years or so - owned by Largo Foods who own various snack brands (Tayto, Perri, Hunky Dorys, King)

You can see them in Tayto Park these days. Video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PydC1okBvJ8

Unlikely that any of the animals find their way into the crisps though.

They get a squeegee and wipe the sweat of the buffalo to give the crisps their flavour

There's more than just that herd in the country. There are 2 herds I know of in Co.Waterford. They served buffalo burgers in the Cove bar, and they were Gorgeous!!
Tasted nothing like the crisps though.

OP what are your thoughts on the manufacturing process of Monster Munch.
With the ingredients and all ?

Are banshee bones really made of.....

Its really not the same as monster much is it? Monsters don't exist, buffaloes do. So the chances that there is some bits of an actual buffalo in a buffalo flavoured crisp is the same as the chances that there is some beef used in beef flavoured crisp.

Pretty low, but it depends on the crisp.

In the States, buffalo wings are EXTRA SPICY chicken wings. The "buffalo" is really just a description of the barbeque tangy taste of such food

I once tried to make cheese and onion crisps by cutting small chips, melting some cheese on em, and throwing some onions on top.

    It didn't end well.

Sadly no, it's not a bag of buffalo crisps. It's a bag of LIES.

    Tasty lies though.
