    It depends

If you work your chest and shoulders on the same day your triceps will be hammered and you won't really need to isolate them any further.

but if you isolate them another day they might not be recovered for your chest/shoulder day. just hammer them at the end of the chest/shoulder day, no problems there.

Depends on what you do for chest or shoulders and back. If chest workout is all presses your triceps are worked, if shoulders has no presses your tricep is not worked, most back exercises incorporate some bicep work. So basically if you use exercices/ movements in major muscle groups that can leave other muscle group capable off being trained afer then no problem. Just use exercises that you can so as too train other body part after...Their is always a way too workout muscle groups together if u choose correct movements/exercises....

You shouldn't be isolating them until you hit intermediate level or have been training consistently for at least 6-9 months. Compound exercises cover every muscle in the body, it's only when linear progress slows down that you should consider isolating them.

Well im confused after reading that, makes me glad i dont do any of that isolation malarkey, op unless your a bodybuilder id leave the tricep kickbacks and 20 different types of bicep curls alone, do bench and chinups and your sound.

I see nothing wrong with doing a little isolation work, once 80% of your time in the gym is spent doing compound lifts like squats, deadlifts, bench, press, rows, pullups etc. . I always do full body sessions and usually pick one excercise each for biceps, triceps and calfs to do at the end. My tricep excercise is never kickbacks, usually skullcrushers or pushdowns.

What if someone isn't working a linear progression?

bullsh*t. sure, your bench gets your triceps a bit. if you want to get bigger triceps... what the hell is wrong with doing some OH tricep extensions or pushdowns or dips for a few sets after your benching? Or some curls after your chins?
