So today was the day, first day of the rest of my working towards a slimmer me life. Started to eat healthy, started PT, and joined a new gym.

    Stats - age 34, weight 18.6 stone, size 20

Really want to turn this around and be a healthy weight by next summer. If the mods don't mind i'd like to keep this open, a kinda kick in the ass if I'm not sticking to it. All the boardsies will know and I will be shamed  I'll keep who ever is interested in my progress up to date :)

So here goes!!! (lots of fat hopefully)

best of luck I'm on the same mission myself I'm a couple of months in I had 2 babies in 3 years so had pre and post baby weight to loose this time for me its not just about the weight loss but been fit and healthy. weight is coming off slow but I dont mind that cause I'm going for a life style change not crash diet I've lost 23 lb since jan but more importantly im much fitter. have about another 25lb too loose but I'll get there eventually.

Good luck, keep us up to date. I find logging things (not just online) is a great help.

Best of luck with it! Boards is great as another way of being "accountable" to yourself!

Third PT session today. Legs are half dead. I've never drank so much water in my life. Weigh in on Thursday so keeping focused ;)

my weigh in day is thursday too fingers crossed for both of us. how are you finding halving a personal trainer id love that. I'm just back from step aerobics ill sleep well tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 544 ✭✭✭Cerocco

Elsy I have to say he keeps me really focused, its not in a big gym so I don't feel like everyones watching me and he tailors the excercise to my abilities. I'll keep fingers crossed for both of us :)

Ok so Weigh day and down 4 pounds :D:D:D im absolutely delighted. I don't think its just water as i'm drinking 2 litres a day and actually had 3 litres yesterday.

Working out most days, just walking in between PT sessions. Must say the PT is the biz, never really put much stock in a personal trainer before but he is really motivating me and getting me to excercise. Will update next week for those of you who are interested :)

3 lbs down this week. Delighted :) My clothes aren't as snug and im really in the swing of it now. I've decided to totally abstain from choc as its my complete weakness. 3 things that I think are doing the trick, water, smoothies and exercise. Lets see what this week brings :D

Good going! Keep it up... remember, we'll be very disappointed if you don't :D

7lbs over the two weeks is excellent though, just keep up what you're doing.

I also find that if you take a pic of yourself in either exercise wear or underwear (something that shows off the bod for good and bad) at regular intervals, it's a huge motivator to keep going and then to see results.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 544 ✭✭✭Cerocco

Thanks Jimmy, I did that and would love to post it up here so I can share the reducing me but I don't know how to upload a pic to a post

If anyone can let me know how to i'd be happy to put up regular pics. Again a motivator to keep going ;)

It needs to be uploaded somewhere online - some people use Photobucket. If I were to link to a photo of mine, I'd link it directly to the Facebook image link.

It would be entirely your call whether to upload here or just keep them for yourself. I keep mine for myself generally, though in maybe six months you could pop up a before and after here if you were happy to?

This week lost 2 lbs, slowing down a bit but i guess thats to be expected. Gonna ramp up the exercise this week to see if that will make a difference. All positive thought. Total loss so far 9lbs :D

1 to 2 pounds loss a week is great and sustainable in the long term. You're doing great!

meet your sister I'm starting tommorrow weighed myself today 16 stone 4 lbs sweet jesus I nearly died keep posting youo're after getting me motivated now that I know i'm not the only one in the country!! on a sidenote does anyone know some really nice smoothie recipes? I have a book on it and they are all full of sugar so i'd just like some basic ones!
Good luck anyway here's to next Summer ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 544 ✭✭✭Cerocco

Thanks Frulewis, you post here too and we can keep each other motivated. What I do for low fat smoothies is get frozen berries from lidl or aldi, an orange (not juice) and a low fat yoghurt and blend together. they are lovely and low fat. If im doing raspberries sometimes they can be a bit sour so I add a bit of honey. Give it a try :D

cool will do starting tommorrow - here we go :D was thinking of joining Curves what do you reckon? The normal gym just flat out bores me but I was thinkin half an hour might be bearable enough if I do a half hour walk in the evenings as well and my cousin did really well in there... we shall see fingers crossed anyway :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 544 ✭✭✭Cerocco

I've never done curves so don't know what its like. I agree the gym can be a bit boaring at times but i'm focusing on the end result. I have a dress I want to fit into so when I feel like I don't want to go, I try to put it on and then I can tell ya I get my runners and trakkie bottoms on quick smart :D

If you're already in a gym, maybe the instructors would do out a 30 minute intense program for you to be similar to what curves offers. At least in a few weeks you could up the weights whereas in Curves the machines can't be adjusted so your body gets used to it.

that's true, curves are doing a six week offer at the moment for 50 quid so am gonna do that and then my cousin who is a personal trainer will be back from travelling by then so he is gonna do up a personal plan for me and be my coach, he's a hard ass so I said i'd better get in a little bit of training before he comes back :D

Ah weigh day, its coming around so quickly. So im at this a month now and down 13lbs. I lost 4 lbs this week. Im so happy. Ive really been putting in the exercise, tracking everything that goes into my mouth and keeping up the 2 litres of water a day. Wh-hooo :D:D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,194 ✭✭✭saa

The biggest pit fall I've faced is binging or eating out and thinking oh well now Ive messed it up might as well stop caring, I believe that wont happen to me again because for the last two weeks I've truly enjoyed my lifestyle change

it took 5 years of changing habits and my mind frame

    stats: 20 weight 199 lbs

Just hit the 100's since loosing 7 lbs in two weeks, went to lidl today didn't look twice at any trigger foods.

To the OP I am aiming to be healthy by next year, losing 1-2 lbs a week, so thats 50+
I would defiantly warn the OP that your goal may take two years but by next year you will be down a huge amount of weight if you keep it up but not fully there, just don't pressure yourself into thinking next summer this is the start of the rest of your new life you body will follow on in time :)
    good luck

Sorry I havent been back here for a wee while, was on hols. So went to weigh in on Thursday and even though I put on I only put on 2 lbs so quite happy about that as I acted the dog a bit on hols.

I'm back on track now, rigidly sticking to diet, will be back with my personal trainer on thursday (can see him before cuz of work commitments) but looking forward to that neauseating feeling of exhaustion after the good workout he gives. and finally joined a new gym, much bigger and this one has a pool so gonna start swimming lots. Bring it on :)

2 lbs is nothing in the grand scheme of things. You're a big poo away from gaining 0 lbs.

Congratulations Cerocco. As someone who weighed 21.5 stone 4 years ago and who weight trained her way down to just over 11 stone and subsequently went to college to be a PT i can totally understand what your trying to achieve. keep the chin up and try not to weigh yourself too often.

Weight doesnt fall off at a regular rate - it comes off in fits and starts but persevere nand you will get there !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 544 ✭✭✭Cerocco

Wh-hoo 3.5lbs down tonight at weigh in. Delighted :D:D:D

Back training as promised, was a killer but in a good way and showed on the scales. Really kept an eye on the intake.

    Bring on this week :D:D

Ah back on track, lost 2 lbs this week. Total weight loss since I began is 16.5lbs. So 2 months in. Clothes are hanging off me, gonna go through clothes I packed away as i'm sure i have a load in my new size.

On reflection I have to say i'd be lost without the discipline of exercise. I know if i'm gonna be heading out at night I'll go at it extra hard at the gym, I just walk like forrest gump on the thredmill and then with my PT trainer I do all the weights and body toning stuff. I have to say also that the PT has really helped, my bingo wings are less bingo like, my legs are toning nicely and all round i'm not as 'shapely' as I was 2 months ago. I know i'm lucky to be able to get PT but I have to say it has helped lots.

So here is to another sucessful week. I hope by next summer to be back to the size 10-12 I was when I was 30. What you guys think??

Just reading your thread Cerocco - so inspiring! I am 4 days into a new food regime. I've been doing the exercise for a while (running and swimming) but the healthy diet is a new thing after a realisation that I was an incredibly unhealthy eater. Anyway, well done on your amazing weight loss!

Well done Cerocco that is great work, make sure you throw out those old clothes you don't need them lurking in the back of your wardrobe! Keep it going and you'll get to you 10 - 12.

I say keep the clothes - in a few months time they'll be baggy as hell on you and show you physically just how well you've done :)

Cerocco, I'm on the way to stone lost and what I've done is kept the one pair of work trousers in sz 18 to deter me from going up there again!
