They seem to expire in 3 months alright except CONNECT-WITH-SUPPORT which is 12 months.

So it will be back down to 2-3GB in October :(

I knew 13GB was too good to be true

What happens to our data when those codes expire?

a huge one. DropBox files are visible to DropBox team and subject to being given free to US authorities upon request. When using Wuala all the files are encrypted using key stored on your computer and there's no way in hell anyone else would be able to acces it.

not to mention the fact that Dropbox only supports Windows, when Wuala have clients for PC/Mac/Linux/Mobile

The NSA have a back door to all encryption as provided by the encryption providers. So the US authorities can see it no matter what you do.

I'd love to see some evidence of that.

I've never heard of a back-door encryption key, only passwords. Passwords are very different in purpose and function to keys. From my understanding of encryption, I really don't see how a back-door (master-key might be more appropriate) could possibly exist.

Is there a way of accessing your files through a browser without installing the client?
I always found that handy about dropbox, means you can access the files from any machine at all without the need to install.

Surely expiring codes means that you can no longer use those codes to get extra space. Surely it's the codes that expire? i.e. NOT your actual disk space. No?

    From http://www.wuala.com/en/support/faq/c/15:
My online storage has expired. What now?

If you have stored more files that your quota (usually 1 GB) allows, you can still access your files, but you cannot upload additional files. Therefore, we recommend trading or buying storage, or renewing your subscription. Please note: If you don't react, we will reserve the right to block part of your files or to even delete part of your files, after having informed you several times.

So, the answer is that in a year when all your free space expires, you will still be able to access your files and delete them but I guess not modify them or upload any more files until you buy more storage or get more free. If you ignore the issue they might eventually delete your stuff.

They have an option to 'trade' local storage for online storage. This means you get free online storage in exchange for letting them store encrypted fragments of other people's data on your hard disk. Probably not a good option for people in this country with broadband speed that are already pretty terrible and with low traffic limits.

I should clarify that you need to read the info on this page, it's not a link to what you might have wanted. It does tell you why what you might be looking for doesn't exist. Basically, this page lets you launch the program on any computer that has Java installed already, without having to download and install it. I'm not sure how much trouble you might have with this if you're trying to launch it on a computer where your rights are restricted. It will vary depending on how restricted I suppose.

Thank you. So I've tried that link, and when I click the red "Start" button, three identical "Wuala Beta" windows open up plus an error notification. Is this happening for anyone else?

    Error notification:

    "Could not open '/ /'.

Reason: You are not a member of this group. , [342,2752,12]-[342,2752,12]"

Really don't know and no one else seems to be answering. If I find out anything I will post back.

From what i read, your stored files are safe. You just cant add anything extra as your free free space expires.
