If you were naming worst signing, yeah Bebe would be up there.
But what did Bebe do so badly sure he only played a few minutes in the premiership?

Ali Dia played for about half an hour?

Taibi didn't play much more than Bebe has.

McShane wouldn't be near the worst 11.

I'd have Johnny Evans there before McShane.

Has to be a joke?

If not I'd advise getting the hell out of Nepal as the altitude must be doing some crazy $hit to your head.

Should ye not just make it a worst Man United 11...Seems go down that road all the time...

    Who is Basilla?

in the context of things, the reality is that while we could all name off 4 or 5 players from liverpool, united, arsenal, city etc etc who were crap, these players are far from the worst that played in the PL. they maybe the worst players for the top teams, but how about the worst players for the s*ite teams? surely lads who played for bradford, hull, derby etc etc would fill this team first? the reality is, nobody probably knows about them. the likes of Taibi, Bebe would probably do a decent job at a lower level team. taibi for example was MOM in his first 2 games, but made a howler v southampton and was not seen after the next game, which was a 5-0 defeat to chelsea. had he not been in the position to replace schmeichel and not been under so much spotlight, he may have done a bit better.

Ali Dia is a cert anyway, i would need to think about 10 more..

Prunier only played 2 games, shocking in the 2nd but did pretty well in the first

Be more interesting to do a worst XI that made over 30 appearances or something

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

the best thing about him was St James shouting BOOM in unison everytime he got the ball!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,828 ✭✭✭bullvine

I think Djimi Traoré is a good shout, considering he played around 100 games in the premier league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,828 ✭✭✭bullvine

I also think Scott Carson is a really awful goal keeper, I think he could be on the list, going by the amount of Apps hes made.

And that doesn't even include his (many) blunders with Hull!

Big in the mobile developement world is he?:)

    Me too.

His performance against Portsmouth when he fell over TWICE in the space of a couple of minutes will haunt me forever.

    Cygan?
    Jordi Cruyff?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Mauricio Pellegrino at centre back, a bit harsh to pick a fella how only played a 5 month spell but he was slower than a very slow thing.

    Oh wait - Poulson!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,535 ✭✭✭joe123

Going by my own club. Bjorne tore kvarme was an absolute shambles. Eric Mjeier was poo and Sean Dundee though I don't think he made an appearance in the league.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Bjorn Tore Kvarme had a much better time of it at Real Sociedad with one Xabi Alonso in front of him.

I honestly believe that Johnny Evans is the worst defender in the premiership at the moment. I cannot see how anybody can rate him as a player.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,311 ✭✭✭✭weldoninhio

    1) Stephen Bywater - Derby - How he is still a goalie i don't know.

    2) Winston Bogarde - Chelsea - Footballs greatest mercenary

    3) Igor Stepanovs - Arsenal - When you make Cygan look good, your in trouble

    4) Roque Junior - Leeds - World Cup winner

    5) Djimi Traore - Liverpool - Just terrible!!

    6) Alex Nyarko - Everton - So bad a fan came on and asked for him to remove his jersey

    7) Darren Ferguson - Man Utd - Even with daddy picking the team he wasn't good enough

    8) Bruno Cheyrou - Liverpool - The "New Zidane"

    9) Bosko Balaban - Aston Villa - Horrific player, never looked good enough

    10) Andrea Silenzi - Nottingham Forest - Nicknamed the paintbrush coz he was so awkward.

    11) Jody Morris - Chelsea - Lots of bite, no talent

John O'Kane who played most of the 97/98 season for Everton when we were so, so nearly relegated. Also, Marco Materazzi was pretty abysmal when we signed him.

Nigel Quashie was relegated four times with four clubs :pac:

Honorable mentions: Steve Marlet, Tomas Brolin and William Prunier

Has to be Djimi Traore for me as well. I remember nearly having a heart attack every time the ball or an attacker came near him in the Champions League that year. He has a Champions League medal as well, which is the really shocking thing. At least he can lie to his grandchildren about how good he was :p

Traore showing his skills here lol

    Give yourself a slap.

All this thread is showing is people's lack of knowledge of the poorer teams in the PL over the years vs their knowledge of the bigger ones (not saying I'm any better btw).

Really?? This is a guy who played in two world cups, finishing in third in one of them, was a semi finalist in a European Championship and scored 27gls in 47 international games, ok he's time in England was a disaster but he was a much better player than that.

    Aye :pac:

He only played in the League Cup though IIRC so that's why I didn't include him.

We made the money for his transfer back after his club and agents were found to have lied to us about him. The story goes that Reid signed the wrong Nunez :pac:

That's why he's included in the 'Worst Ever Premier League XI'. He could have scored 500 goals somewhere else but that's irrelevant.

Aye, I thought he had the one sub but i guess i am wrong.

A midfield of Luke Chadwick and Salif Daio

Dont for Djimi Traore has a champions league medal, more that John Terry.

    ******

I could well be wrong mate as I'm going off my memory from that time, but I think he warmed up on the sideline for a Premier League game but wasn't brought on until the following week in the League Cup against Wimbledon.

Depends on which way you interpet the OP I guess, my interpretation was the worst players to play in the premier league, and even if you take the other interpretation he scored 5 league goals in 18 apps, not earth shattering but hardly 'worst ever' territory either, Brolin was castigated because of he's big reputation before he came, hes frequent public fallouts with Wilkinson and he's expanding waist! But all things being equal he is nowhere near a worst ever premier league XI

The derby team from 07/08 should make up the majority of this team.

They only finished with 11 points that season
