    Ladies and gentlemen,

This is our main event of the evening! In the Octogon Play-Pen, five rounds days of heavy-weight championship action. In all corners, with an undefeated record, a veteran of the MMA forum, the Noc and C&H, Unknown13!

I think that's enough of the big fight puns. :pac:

Unknown13 popped in for a short visit two years ago, before returning at the start of 2010 to post more regularly. He's made himself at home with over 2,000 posts in C&H, including his fantastic Fantasy Football threads and one of 2011's threads of the year, the Irish Language thread.

It's no secret that we clashed a few times, but since I stopped modding here we've been getting on pretty well. I've even gone on record saying he's one of the most interesting posters on the forum these days.

With that in mind, I give you Unknown13 in the Play-Pen. :)

    Favourite food?
    Anything barbecued

What did you think of the Haye v klitschko fight?
Disappointing and a let down. Klitschko was without a doubt the better fighter and fully deserved to win

    Is haye a sore loser??
Absolutely, he should of manned up and said that "Klitschko was the better fighter and his tactics were wrong, which they were". I have lost all my respect for Haye after his comments.

    Favourite form of martial arts?
I am a stand up fighter and so I would have to say Muay Thai

    Football or hurling?

    Why 13?

    Mars or snickers?
    Mars

    Vanilla or Cooke Dough

    Dunnes or Tesco?
Tesco because it is closer to my house

What is black pudding made of??? (This has puzzled me for a while, but I'm too lazy to google :p)

Unlike many people before me, I didn't join because of Leaving Cert. I joined boards because I wanted a place where I can talk about boxing that was taking place in either Ireland or UK and where the forum wasn't practically dead. Most of my early posts were posted in the boxing forum and the mma forum aswell

What you wanna be when you're all grown up?
I will either be a social worker, working with in a Non Govermental Organisation or be involved in background politics. I haven't fully decided what I want to be yet but it is highly likely that politics will be involved in my career at some level

    Tea or coffee?
    Coffee

Who's worse: Tiger Woods or Ryan Giggs?
Tiger Woods because it genuinely fúcked up his career and he was still doing very well until he did what he did. Giggs doesn't have long left but Woods had at least 5 good years left, now I don't think he has any good years yet.

Not really to be honest. There were better couples up for the award. I knew I was never going to do well in the Jizzlers as well because of me acting a maggot too many times in here last year.

I'm probably dissappointed about the Hurlers today, made the trip to Croker expecting a good close game and Kilkenny gave us a beating and inflicted revenge on us

Its something that has always interested me from a young age, being involved in politics at school level to studying some modules and now taking it as one of my two joint major subjects. I also get a bit of a buzz when any big elections come around.

Wall street, that was for an assignment aswell

    Favourite social theorist? :pac:
Durkeim because he is the easiest. That first year module on social theory was awful.

Who's your favourite/least favourite sociology lecturer in UCD?

Are you looking forward to second year?

Any ideas what modules you're going to pick?

Were you happy that Rachel Breslin got elected as welfare officer?

Will you be a welfare penguin again next year?

Did you consider running for welfare officer? Would it be something you'd be interested in?

What's your favourite memory of your first year in college?

    Least favourite thing about UCD?

    kateos2 wrote: »
Who's your favourite/least favourite sociology lecturer in UCD?
Favourite: Aoghan Mulcahy, his module is the hardest module because it is very broad. Least Favourite: Michael Punch, he nearly knocked me out with boredom too many times and I didn't really like that module preferred Alice Feldman's.

Are you looking forward to second year?
Yes, I am. Don't have to do Sociology, It is going to be hard work though since I want to get a good GPA and go on Erasmus. Looking forward to the Challenge.

Any ideas what modules you're going to pick?
I will do be doing the Policy module and Middle East module in Politics anyway. Doing the Social Work modules in Social Policy.

Were you happy that Rachel Breslin got elected as welfare officer?
I stayed neutral in the Welfare race because I am friends with all three candidates. It was the best thing to do. Rachel was a great candidate and came across very well and did serious work for Welfare during the year. I am happy because there were good candidates running for Welfare and you can have no complaints about either of them because of the ideas they brought to the table unlike Education.

Will you be a welfare penguin again next year?
Yes, I will be a welfare penguin next year, no doubt about that.

Did you consider running for welfare officer? Would it be something you'd be interested in?
No, I didn't at all. I am only in first year and there was no point being a first year. I might run for Welfare at some point, It would be something I would have an interest in. I think time will tell though on that issue. I have two (possibly three) years left of college.

What's your favourite memory of your first year in college?
Our second class trip to Belfast or representing UCD at a conference in April

    Least favourite thing about UCD?
The sports clubs because most are very money orientated

Do you have faith in Irish politics?

What do you think is the single biggest change we need in political vision in this country?

Would you go bungee jumping/skydiving/into space if you had the chance for any of them?

Yes, I do have faith now in Irish politics. I think we have very good ministers and ministers with backgrounds in areas they are in charge of. IE Shatter and Reilly

What do you think is the single biggest change we need in political vision in this country?
I think we need to plan better, Hard to cricise Fine Gael as they only got into government but I think future governments have got to be stricter and be alot more prepared. The recession effects could have been reduced heavily if Fianna Fail had their screwed on, which they didn't.

Would you go bungee jumping/skydiving/into space if you had the chance for any of them?
I would go skydiving. Don't like the sound of bungee jumping and going into space.

What was the best piece of advice somebody ever gave you?
Your in College primarily to do one thing and that is get your degree.

    Whats your favourite book?
Lies of Silence by Brian Moore. I am not a big reader at all

    Ice cream or ice pops?
    Ice cream

What one thing would you change about yourself physically and personality wise?
Physically, I am fine. I ain't overweight and pretty physically active. I would probably change my tolerance levels as I am not that very tolerant.

    Cats or dogs?
    Dogs

Would you prefer to live in the city or the country?
City because I love the whole hussle of the living in the city, I genuinely can't image what it would be like living in the middle of nowhere, it is the complete opposite to the surroundings I live in

    Do you like raw tomatoes?
There isn't that many I will refuse to eat. Raw tomatoes however is one of them. I despise raw tomatoes with a passion.

They were until I got my Social Science & Sociology hoodie. They are alot more comforable. I have worn the Welfare hoody a bit too much and the worn factor is kind of leaving it now.

I just respect the vast majority of the mods and keep my opinions about the ones I don't respect to myself rather than fighting with them because fighting with mods is pointless.

Which course is it that you're doing in UCD?
    Social Science (BSocSc)

Do you have a large family?
Not really, I have two siblings both of which are older than me

    Play any sports?
Yeah, I play Soccer regularly. Have played Gaelic, Hurling, Basketball, Golf, Snowsports, Surfing, Martial Arts, Badminton, Tennis, Sailing & Body boarding on and off in the past

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Hard to say, at the moment it looks like I will be a Social Worker or Policy Analyst working either with the HSE or an NGO and aswell possibly being pretty actively involved with a Political party working on policies at a local level.

And lastly, but more importantly, as a South Dublin person, do you know any decent pubs near UCD for nights when the bars are being used for events and you don't want to waste money paying in?
I will be totally honest with you and say that I don't go to pubs in South County Dublin much at all. I am in the student bar alot more times than my local. Throw up a thread in the South County Dublin forum and you should get a few good responses

    Yay, penguins!

If you could change anything welfare-y, what would it be?
I think proper Welfare hustings are needed around sabat election time because Welfare covers alot more issues on top of personal cases, financial issues involving students and general student welfare . Proper hustings like the ents hustings should happen next year.

If you could go back and do any course you liked, would you choose Social Science again?
Doubt it, to be honest. It is a very good course and people in it are great but I would have to go back and do Law with Politics. Law is something I have always had an interest in and same with politics. It is a perfect combination for me, yes Law is demanding but I love hearing about criminal cases, love all the crime documentaries and I have a fascination with law. Overall, I love law and find it very interesting the same with politics.

    :)

You're introducing someone who's never seen MMA to the sport.
What five fights would you tell them to watch?

Griffin / Bonnar 1, Taylor / Davis, Korean Zombie / Garcia 1, Leben / Akiyama, Guida / Sanchez. They were all wars. Hard to think of any decent grappling matches off the top of my head.

Films - do you prefer to watch them in the cinema or on DVD?
DVD because you can pause them and take small breaks and won't miss anything

Favourite recipe to cook for yourself?
Barbecued steak. I know how to cook meat on the Barbecue well and that is the only thing when it comes to cooking that I'm good at.
