essential oils - do they go off?

Sorry, no clue where this fits but I do burn oils sometimes before I goto bed.... so... Do they have a shelf life? I found a bottle that I'd say I bought years ago. Maybe they are ok to burn but not for massage??

Yes, they have a shelf life, also tainted by heat and light.
