Hey that's great I'm very glad you got your pet sorted. I also use Jennifer but not for overnights.
A few items that might be misleading if I might .
They don't run socialisation classes; the dogs are mixed and put in together. Luke us not an owner he is a 12 year old boy that occasionally helps out when Jennifer is mad busy or away ( thou a genius with dogs) . And they are not restrictive about dropping dogs at set times such as 10-2 which can be a total nightmare to match in with.
I agree that the place is a godsend but I have had some issues with my dog clearly not getting walked once a day and being left all day for periods of a week or more in a run or small yard. that is why I would never kennel her overnight there as it is a high energy dog.
I also have issues around her allowing unmuzzled restrictive breeds in her common shared runs. I write this only because you have erroneously said that she runs socialisation classes and I do not want anyone to make a big mistake with their pet.
Jennifer really loves dogs and does mostly a great job.

She told me between 10am and 2pm. It's even on the website.
I never met Luke I just presumed he was older. She told me they have times for dogs to interact during the day. Maybe I mistook it for socialisation classes but either way it's still done my dog the world of good. She's so much calmer around other dogs (within reason... before she would bark at a dog across the road.... now she only barks if they come at her) I've a bichon and she loves her walks but I didn't expect her to be walked to be honest. I just thought running around would other dogs would be grand. But if I had a big dog yeah that would be a massive problem for me. It's not fair on the dogs to not get out and get walked like their normal routine.

My dog being so small Jen keeps her in the house and doesn't put her in the kennels overnight. And if I found out any different I would have a major problem.

Thank you for letting me know all this ;)

Subway: 10am -2pm drop off pick up is handy for me. I'm commenting on my experience. It suits me. You should've gone elsewhere if it doesn't suit you.
it didnt inconvenience me too much on the occasion i used them.

It seems that you should never have left your dog with Jen at all if you weren't happy to begin with.. you said they wouldn't let you see the kennels. Any place you intend to leave a pet with and you aren't happy with, well you should never leave the pet with them if you aren't happy.
it wasnt exactly like i could cancel my holiday, i just assumed that everything would be ok

Why did you pay the child that was there in the first place when your dog was returned to you covered in dirt and leads missing?! You should have told him that you would ring Jen about the payment and complained to her then. He was only a child afterall. What was he going to do.. stop you from taking your own dog?!
i paid becuase there was no one around and i am a soft touch. i wasnt ready for an argument with a kid tbh

I label everything that I leave with them... food, leads etc because I can't afford to be buying new leads so they never go missing. I do that anytime I've left her with kennels.
i've left them a few different places and i can always trust them not to screw up the most basic issue of not losing things. sorry, but its embarassing that you need to do this.
    foxxrok wrote: »
You need to ring Jen, tell her how unhappy you were and ask for a full refund for the stay and the price of new leads. No point complaining on here when you won't even complain to her. That's plain daft. And that thing about he would tell the owners about the leads and they never rang. Well everyone knows what children are like especially male children. They only tell you about stuff or remind you about things when it benefits them so don't go presuming they never rang because they couldn't be bothered. I'm betting the young fella never told them. By you not ringing them and informing them of your issues, they won't know how unhappy you were with the service.
i dont need to, justathought and you know them, apparently this 4ft nothing kid is 16, owns the place and can be trusted to be left in charge. i have no further interest in helping her run her business. i have replaced the leads and moved on and will simply warn other people off using them in the first place.
they cant be so stupid to know they are screwing up like this.

My dog hasn't come back dirty. But she has done from other places. So I suppose we all have bad experiences from places that others think are brilliant.
    name and shame then

You had a bad experience, made worse by you not being pro active about it.
i'm just going to move on, its not worth my while to deal with these people.
i've wasted enough time and money on them already. i have plenty of friends with dogs and they all know not to use this place now

? Six foot + & in 5th year & a genius with handling dogs. I know they were replacing the dog runs with newer fences & getting diggers in to dig for the posts ; maybe this was the time you said they didn't want people walking around the back area; but on asking there is never a problem with looking at the runs or dog areas & I use them a lot.

If you're not prepared to ask for your lead back when you forget it it's not exactly fair to them to go bitching online to strangers about it... I understand totally that you wern't happy & that your dogs were dirty on your return ; they typically wash & towel them off every time before returning them to you. Maybe your dog missed you badly & souled themselves ( can happen) matbe they decided to roll in it for a change ( can happen too... Unfortunately) either way you should have said it to them on your return to the kennels : it's not a grooming parlour , but it is out if the usual for them to hand a dog back muddy or dirty.
But the place to complain us with the owners... Its not really fair to happily butch online & nit be prepared to say something to them upfront.

For me I use them a fair bit & my dog goes NUTS heading down the road to get in & play... Whatever about me , the dog loves the place & that's hard to fake.

Not pimping any business, just commenting on my experience like everyone else. I don't find it very fair that this post has been removed when other posts are much more 'ad like'. Again, just commenting on my experience. I just signed up today to find I have been accused of pimping??

And just like the other two one post wonders on this thread you deleted your post as soon as it was edited by one of the forum mods, which has never happened with any other business on this forum.

There will be no more discussion of Hilton Boarding kennels on this forum.
