Wide pole? Try weightwatchers in Warsaw?

fish is supposed to give you brains which would help your spelling.

I don't think you eat fish at all.

Nope can't stand the flavour of fish. Not a fan of the seaweed used in sushi either.

I'd usually get it in Dunnes cos it's the most convenient but if I'm anywhere near a fishmongers in town or happen to go to Howth we pick stuff up there.
Often eat it a few times a week. The kids love it & simple to cook so no brainer.

Catch a few myself and eat them. Mostly pollock.

    Yep, usually twice a week.

No fish monger around here but the butcher gets a selection in twice a week.

    I buy there every Wednesday

I find it hard to find trout anywhere though. Marks & Spensers have it but it's €7, bit pricy

Not a fan, tbh. Much prefer red meat and chicken.

I love fish but I rarely cook with fresh fish. I eat prawns several times a week, and I'd eat a fair bit of crab, but generally the only non-shellfish I'd eat would be breaded or battered. I simply don't know how to cook it or what to do with it. That being said, I have the Fishy Fishy cookbook aside for myself in work. I'm hoping to buy it soon and start cooking more with fish.

Sadly no, there's no fish mongers near me bar the Superquinn (Lucan) and they're a rip off :(

I know there's a place in Dublin city called Kish that's meant to be really good, must drop in sometime.

I am presently eating cod that I caught today. With fried spinach, garlic, raisins and pine nuts. On a leaba of rice.

    And a can of amstel.

Sounded almost gourmet till I mentioned the beverage.

I love fish, eat it a few times a week. I never buy it. You could catch mackeral on a piece of tin foil.

    No.

I don't like strong tasting fish and I don't know how to cook it, other than back some smoked haddock.

honestly, its nothing more than a time consummation thing.
That and I hate the actual feel of fish in my hands. Hate handling them.
(Yes, I might be weird) :o

Just a preference really. I'd rather a big juicy steak than a crappy bit of smoked cod.

I don't mean to single you out but what youve just said is quite interesting because its the one thing I believe that in the past people havent really cooked fish very well and thus turned a lot of people of it...

But also like you say to...

No shortage of them. Come winter, you'd get sick of catching them the shore.

I eat fish about 2-3 times a week, never anything fancy just pan fried or done in the oven, will eat most types of fish unlike my mother who will eat cod and cod only:rolleyes:

I love fresh fish! My Uncle catches a lot of trout and always brings up a few to us :p From the age of 16 I learned how to properly clean out a fish and cook them beautifully :D Thanks to the mammy!!

I have never bought it though! It comes straight from the sea to my fridge :D I can see a few animal rights people looking at this post and thinking "murder" :D:D

I love the fresh fish you can get in a fishmonger but unfortunately there is none left in the town where I live. I do not think the supermarket fish counters even come close to a proper fishmonger. The only fish I hate to eat is smoked coley or haddock but I think its more to do with the smell when its being cooked.

When I go to a restaurant (I always have trouble spelling that wurd) I almost always order fish - such a treat.

    I absolutely love fish.

I'm not a big fan of pollock myself. I find pollock a bit tasteless and the texture kinda waxy.

Love me a bit of fresh mackerel.

Does anyone know where I can get good smoked fish in the Cork City area?

Love me a bit of fresh mackerel.

If you haven't tried it, mackerel barbecued in tin foil is unreal.

There's a place in the English Market. I don't know the name but it's next to O'Connells fish and right by the exit on to Oliver Plunkett street. The same guy also sells at some of the farmers markets.

Fried mackerel stuffed with spring onions on toasted batch bread is really nice. Its so cheap too. Only about 3 quid for 3 big fish.

Love fish, great for athletes. I don't eat too much red meat at all, so I need the protein in chicken or fish. Tilapia is lovely, lots of protein and good fats. Salmon every once in a while too. Wish there was somewhere more local to get it.

    Sounds yummy.

You get fish with this wierd luminous radioactive crap brushed onto it and they claim that it's smoked but it's not.

Grilled Black Sole on the Bone is my favourite.

Haddock, cod or hake are my favourites. Oven baked with just some sea salt and black pepper. Yum.

Loads of underestimated fish out there that many people might not be aware of.

Ling is so plentiful and a great substitute for cod.

Flounder is similar to plaice and can be caught in most sandy areas.

I buy fresh fish from the local fishmonger two/three times a week, mainly salmon and smoked haddock.
My two kids hate the smell of it cooking and are always complaining about it, and the the one time i managed to bribe my 9yo son to eat some salmon he threw up,my 10yo daughter is a vegatarian and wont touch fish or meat despite my begging/pleading.
