Squating

I was in the gym today squating.

I'm new to doing full barbell squats and I'm not sure where to put my hands.

I was doing 5x5 and on the 3rd or 4th rep in every set I was getting pain and cramps on the outside of my left arm.

Is it to do with my hand positioning.

    Thanks

I've gotten that before, for me it was a combination of gripping the bar too tight on a hard rep and poor positioning of the bar on my traps.

Next time when warming up with a light weight, try wearing the bar slightly further down your traps. Also be concious of how you hold the bar, it should almost keep itself in place with no need to grip it tightly.

As to where to position your hands, where ever is comfortable. I tend to have my little finger on the outer ring of the bar.

    Hey Lockie!

I'm assuming you mean the width of your grip?
Never experienced the pain in either arm personally, check out some vids of squatting on youtube and read up on how to squat properly. Just google it!!
