Just finished the leaving cert and I want to lose weight. I was playing tennis earlier and Im dying, so my fitness is down too.

Is it possible to lose 30-40 pounds between now and the end of september?

I'm 14 stone, size 14-16-18 (depends on the store)
I want to weigh about 11st 10lbs. Which is about 30 pounds, right?

Is it possible? So unhappy at the moment! I always had a problem with my weight. It has stopped me joining sports and clubs ive wanted to.

Used special k diet before and it helped decrease my appetite?

Also, any tricks to stop me from binging?
Im an extreme binge eater and always have something in my hand!:(

My motivation is - University (when I go, I want to feel comfortable to do what I like) and Ive the mini marathon!
    Thanks!

It's possible to lose 30lb in 90 days, but it will ensure your summer is a miserable one. Rather than focus on weight, how about combing a small weight loss with increasing your fitness as well?

Let's face if, if you are full of energy and confidence, no-one knows or cares what the number on the scales is. And if you are miserable and exhausted, no-one is going to say "Ah, but she's size 10, so it's okay."

Focus on getting fit. Combine tennis with lots of walking, and the odd bit of sprinting, and other stuff like dancing and sex and cycling. Wait. Did I say sex? Disregard that bit.

The Special K diet is a gimmick, and not recommended long term. Or at all really. Special K itself a joke. It has more sugar than many kids cereals, and will do nothing to help you lose weight.

Make a point of getting a quality protein into every meal. That will help you feel fuller and reduce the urge to binge.

I lost 4 stone in under 4 months last year so yeah it is possible. However, I wsa very lucky as this fast weightloss was due to a very physical job.

Have a look at the stickys here on nutrition but above all just get as active as possible, use any excuse to get moving so even just say meeting a friend for a chat, go for a walk instead of having a sit down. It really is as simple as that I think anyway.

Oh any if your worried about the amount your eating start keeping a food diary and be completely honest with it, this does help a lot I think.

Can I ask about exercise here too or ...?

Most effective exercise is the kind that makes you sweat and pant. When you are doing cardio, do it intensely, alternating flat out sprints with slower recovery jogs (though you can do some days where you do longer duration at a lower intensity).

In the gym, lift weights, and lift heavy ones. Endless reps with a light dumbbell will just annoy you and waste your time. Base your routine on squat, deadlift, bench press, pull-ups, dips, lunges, stiffleg deadlifts, military press, etc.
