Is mineral make up for me?

I still haven't tried mineral make up and I'd love to, whenever I see pictures of the finish it gives, the skin always looks so beautiful.

However I hate hate hate powder make up, I never wear it, I hate powder blush or bronzers as well, I don't know why but they do not suit me....I like a dewy look.

Am I right in thinking that mineral powder make up is nothing like normal powder make up or should people who hate powder stay away from it?

I have used it and like you hate powders. I was really impressed with it. I didn't feel like I was wearing any powder.

    Must actually get some more.

Cool I must try some, any particular brand you'd recommend?

I don't want to fork out straight away for a kit including brush etc. because I am soooo picky when it comes to make up and I will probably get it and never use it.

I have a Mac 180 brush which is supposed to be good for mineral make up so I will try it first of all with that.

Diorskin Nude is actually a fluid foundation (and one of the best I've used!), so if you don't like powders you should try it out.

I wear loreal true match mineral foundation over tinted moisturoiser and I love it the colour really works with my skintone and it doesnt clog my skin :) It was not overly pricey either I get it in boots

I also use id bare minerals blush in 'warmth' it was a gift from a friend and its a lovely shade.

Unless you have very dry skin, it's not like powder makeup at all, and can give quite a nice natural look, tho I'm not sure about dewy - depends on how much oil in your skin I think. I've used Bare Minerals and was happy with the look for a natural look but not the longevity and find it doesn't work as well with a strong eye or cheek, the contrast is too much.

For dewyness, my best ever experience has been with Max Factor Xperience & MAC MSF Natural powder -the powder is very good and if you don't need a lot of coverage buffed on with a kabuki it gives a lovely even tone that is definitely dewy, I really like it. It's not designed as foundation tho.

I completely forgot I started this thread sorry :o

Thanks Iwantadonkey but I think that shade might be too light for me!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I will look into all of them :)

I have one from the body shop as, like you, I wanted to try it without commiting to anything pricey! Its actually really good though and I can't see how a more expensive brand would be better. They've a good range of shades too.

I bought Bare Minerals expecting great things and I really wasn't impressed by it, it just seems to clump and make my skin quite dry. I thought it was how I just wasn't applying it correctly but I've watched countless YouTube tutorial videos for applying it but still not happy. The hunt for a good foundation continues!

I love the smashbox one, from reading the reviews a lot of people use it as a finishing powder over foundation but I love it on it's own. It's very expensive though in the shops €65  but you get 21g of powder for that so it's a lot more powder than some brands give you. I actually got mine in the salon skincare sale for £36.50.
