    Hi all,
I would like to lose about a stone but unfortunately I am constantly encountering a couple of problems. Before I continue, I am 24, 5 '6, 10 and a half stone(sorry don't know kilo conversion) and have an athletic build.People don't believe me when I tell them my weight so perhaps it's muscle weight...I don't know. I'm a size 10-12 anyway and would like to be an 8-10 which I have been in the past. I walk for about 40 minutes every day and run for 30-40 mins a week.

I have no problem mentally with cutting out junk food, processed foods etc and getting up and doing some exercise as I've always participated in sports and I'm not a lazy person but the main problems I encounter when I try to lose weight are
1: I have a load of nervous energy and often this affects my concentration. I can also feel quite weak and as if my blood sugar is very low. This has given me migraines in the past.
2: I can't sleep. I lay awake for 3 hours last night before eventually going downstairs and making myself a sandwich. I didn't even feel hungry but as soon as I ate it I felt a kind of relief and was drowsy enough to fall asleep after 5 or 10 minutes. Not only that sometimes I will wake up in the middle of the night with my stomach rumbling. It really annoys me because I don't want to be eating late at night.

I know I am not doing something right. I have read the fitness basics so I will endeavour to follow the advice there and perhaps I am a fat phobe so I will have to really work out a more comprehensive diet. It used to be:
Breakfast: Porridge with honey and banana
Lunch: Tuna salad sandwich and some fruit
Dinner: Pasta or baked potato with chicken or tuna and salad filling
    Snacks: fruit, ryvita.
(Now I am just eating whatever as I don't know how to counter the above problems)

I hope this information is clear and if not or I have left out something please let me know. I also recently gave up drinking which seems to have increased my appetite even further.

    Thanks in advance.

Hey Lisa, so if your goal is to lose weight you should probably try to do 3-4 weights/cardio sessions a week.

How does this affect you with regard to losing weight? Why not go to a doc and get your blood sugar checked?

I am constantly hungry, i eat a big meal and 40 mins later I'm hungry. If you think it's something other than just general appetite (doesn't look like your eating that much from your diet), then maybe go to a doc and get your bloods done or something, check if you're low in anything.

Ok might think about doing that. Obviously my feeling weak and getting migraines wouldn't physically hinder me from losing weight but it's hardly a good trade off in fairness and yes I realise I should be doing at least 3 hours a week but due to the problems I'm encountering that I've already outlined, it is giving me some problems. Maybe I'll go see a doctor anyway as I said
    Thanks

Hey lisa.. i agree with alot of what colman has said so far.. but i'd almost go further and ask if you are currently playing any sports or doing any weights, etc aswell as your runs/walks during the week?

Also your diet seems to be very high in carbs.. so i'd say up your protein and fat and maybe try and focus on a couple of things like hitting bed at a regular time each night for a few days in a row aswell as maybe getting some more activity in early in the day so that your using up some of that energy .. Just some thoughts..
Good luck with your plan anyways. :)

Thanks! I think going to bed at a certain time might help. I've started to try and eat at certain times and eat something small between meals if I feel a bit weak to keep my blood sugar at a relatively stable level and that seems to have helped. already lost a few pounds :)
