Weighted Vests

Hello all, just wondering if anyone has any info or advice regarding weighted vests at all.

I play rugby but have been out for the most part of the last year through injury, although I have been doing some running since (5 mile runs, hill running, hill sprints) I am still a long way away from where I want to be in a fitness sense. Having been injured, I am back doing weights and getting into a regime to get me somewhat-right for the upcoming season, starting in september. I am currently awaiting the arrival of a newly purchased adjustable 10kg weighted vest and just wondering if anyone has any experience with them or has any tips?

Cheers for that, some good tips taken on board, like no flat sprints or long distance running with the weighted vest, makes sense to not put too much force into ankles and joints. Been planning to take it along for some hill sprints and some uphill running (starting with a very low resistance and building up). While also wearing it while walking up the mountain for added resistance.

How much was your vest? Elverys have 10kg vests for 25 euro

Is 10kg the max weight? Can you add more any way?
Reason I ask is that, for a decent sized guy (assuming due to rugby), its not a huge amount of added resistance. I imagine you'll keep it at 10kg all the time, I'd rather a vest were I could adjust from 10-20kg so i used he range as i don't think I'd run about with 1-7kg on it very often.

JJayoo: I saw them in Elverys when I was home alright, but wasnt sure if I wanted all of the bulk of the weight hanging around the "belly" area, and also as I'm now back in the UK (awkward enough flying across without the added 10kg), I just ordered one of Amazon (which came today - only ordered Monday night). I paid about £50 for it, but it is a snug fit, with good padded shoulder pads. Wasnt expecting it so soon, but will be another day or so after I try it out, after doing a leg session in the gym this morning, so going to enjoy the rest period and leave the legs alone.

Mellor: With hindsight, I totally agree, was wearing it around the flat earlier just checking it out and I probably could have gone for one of the heavier ones (~ 20kg). I suppose I will adjust and get a heavier one in the future, but will have to do with this one for now. Mainly want it for hill sprints and jogging up the mountain, which handy enough, is next to where I live (not a great location for walking home after a night out I might add).

Will seek advice before I attempt to do lengthy flat running, but cant see the problem with gradually increasing the weight (5kg to 10kg) just to add a bit more resistance. Thanks again lads, appreciate the advice.
