Home game for the exiles after pushing Mayo all the way, Fermanagh in an awful state this year and i could see a historic win on the cards here

pappy power offering 2/1 for a London win, definitely worth a few cuid imo.

I reckon London are in a great position to win this one.

It's hard to look passed Fermanagh. London can take confidence from their first game however. I think they'll be close to pulling off the win they crave.

They were 5/1 with hills but I'd say you wouldn't get a big bet down

5/1 is long gone, 11/4 is the biggest available and it wont last much longer, bookies have got this horribly wrong and are adjusting all the time, Powers have cut from an opening 7/2 to 2/1 and Hills have gone from 5/1 to 11/4, didnt get any of the 5s but 7/2 will do nicely, cant believe I have such a big liability on London footballers

Lads I wouldn't go getting overly carried away with putting the life-savings on London. They may have been a bit overpriced at opening odds but bear in mind this is still London we're talking about, and one improved performance against Mayo doesn't suddenly make them a good team.

You have to factor in Mayo complacency, Mayo underperforming, London themselves probably overachieving a little bit. London need to prove now that the Mayo game wasn't just a flash in the pan. They have a chance of winning alright as Fermanagh aren't up to much at the moment, but don't go getting carried away based on the Mayo game. That was London's All-Ireland final and there's no guarantee they'll be able to raise their game like that again. I hope they can though.

London had only 2 wins in the league and lost to Fermanagh up in Brewster by a few points. I was sorry the 7/2 was gone but I feel the 2/1 is about right really. How many of the Fermanagh lads are on strike?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭aidan24326

They (london) actually lost a few of their league games quite heavily, though they've added a couple of players since.

Not sure how many went on strike/quit the panel but it's quite a few, and morale can hardly be good in the camp right now,so it's right to say that this is probably London's best chance of a qualifier win for the past few years. No use piling in now though when the good odds have all gone.

I presume London have benefited hugely from emmigration over the past few years? Also heard they have three or four from Galway that would be playing intercounty if they were back home

I have to agree with this. while Mayo were incredibly wasteful against London they still held most of the possession and dominated most areas of the field. It was another case of Mayo almost defeating themselves.

If London can take their chances like they did against Mayo and hold their nerve leading into the final quarter of the match then they are certainly in with a shout of defeating Fermanagh. Will be an interesting one.

25 minutes gone and London lead by 5 points to no score. Playing with the breeze. Not looking too bad at the moment for the exiles but a long way to go yet.

34mins gone, london lead 0-08 to 0-01 and london have kicked 16 wides

G'wan LDN! I'm only a casual GAA fan but the Sunday Game will be well worth watching if they win. :D

London 9 points, Fermanagh 1 point. I saw that 7/2 on Monday and thought it would last a few days. Balls.

    0-9 - 0-1

Clare to beat Down in Ennis is highly generous @ 10/1, IMO. That's gagging for a quid or two - Clare are crap but can give anyone a good game at home.

clare got the toughest draw they could get though, last years all ireland finalists i just can't see them turning them over, anyone else in the draw and clare had half a chance, cavan, a really understrength sligo, wicklow, antrim, westmeath etc sure but down have too much class up front...........would love to be wrong :D

I got them at 2/1 but should have put it on a week ago! Stiff breeze at play by all accounts. Do Fermanagh have it in them? Probably not one would think.

I'd have Down as certs there SportsGuy. Any inside info?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,969 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

cannot see Clare beating Down, wouldn't mind it though. There is a stiff breeze in London but to shoot 16 wides aswell would indicate they are well on top. Fermanagh will undoubtedly come back into it, hope London bang in a goal to take the pressure off.

Both are winning, they would two of the teams that you would be a bit nervous about.

No, just a feeling. Plus, it would be just typical that we wait so long for a genuine shock and like buses two come at once. :D

Easy money :D annoyed i didnt take them at 7/2 but there you go. Was a bet that was discussed in my group of friends all week so i'd imagine the bookies got stung on this one. Only by cute whores of course :D

Saw this result popping up and couldnt believe it until now.

emmigration is making new york and london so strong now, galway and mayo both got out of jail, fermanagh not so lucky.

nobody will fancy getting london now in the next round though i think, they will go on the lash for a week and may lose focus...wouldnt blame them, thats a hugh result.

Wouldnt normally post stuff like this but met a few of the Fermanagh boys on a night out just after several players left the panel in protest. Didnt know any of the lads but they were only too happy to talk about it. Said the setup was a joke but they all loved it cause it was such savage craic and the sessions (beer sessions not training sessions!) were unbelievable. Have absolutely no connection with Fermanagh at all but thought this was very strange. Id be baying for blood if I was from Fermanagh with an attitude like that.

not this year no but last year they gave galway some fright, roscommon had 2-8 on the board very early in that match this year, they have some nice footballers in new york atm, couple of decent kerry and cork lads and two giants up front (6'8 and 6'7 i believe they are)
