How much progress could I make fitness wise?

    Hi all,

I'm trying to join the Royal Marines. Just sent in in my application, although the whole process could take up to a year. It's a pretty tough selection process. The minimum entry requirements are 60 RM press ups, 80 sit ups all under two minutes with two minutes rest between each. This is followed by a minimum of 6 over hand pull ups follwed by a general gym fitness test (rope climbs/spuats etc). The press ups are very strict form; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG571YkA6-w

I had been training hard for over a year but within the last three months my training schedule took a knock from a mixture of injuries/college work load (thesis work). I don't mean to be making excusses but I just found it impossible to make time to get a decent work out, but I'm hopping that it's just a matter of rejogging "fitness memory"

I just tested myself there and I could only do 30 press ups, 8 pull ups, 60 sit ups and an 11 minute 1.5 mile run (after a 3 mile run).:o

My aims are to be able to do 80 press ups, 100 sit ups, run 1.5 mile under 9 min (after a 3 mile run). It's the press ups that seem to get me down, running and other requirments seem to be ok.

Do you think these aims are terribly ambitious or am I taking on too much? If someone could offer any tips or advice.

    Cheers.
