    http://www.digitalspy.ie/tv/news/a325594/it-crowd-to-get-one-last-series-says-chris-odowd.html

Chris O'Dowd has admitted that the forthcoming series of The IT Crowd will likely be the last.
The Channel 4 sitcom's creator Graham Linehan previously suggested that the show could end after the fifth series.
Speaking to Digital Spy, O'Dowd confirmed that he will start filming new episodes of The IT Crowd "either at the end of this year [or the] start of next year".
Asked if the comedy show would come to a close after the next run, he said: "I think so, we don't want to overstay our welcome. I think it would be good to do one last one rather than leave it where it is."
O'Dowd joked that his IT Crowd co-star Richard Ayoade, who recently directed the well-received British comedy Submarine, is yet to offer him any acting work.
"He refuses - I ask!" O'Dowd said. "I read an early draft of Submarine and thought I'd be great for [the Paddy Considine] part and he's like, 'I might get a proper actor.'"

I hope it's better than S4, I thought it wasn't as consistently funny as the previous 3 series, Dougles saved S4 for me.

I'm still looking forward to it though :D

I think the problem last series was there was too much focus on Jen. Some episodes Roy and Moss seemed to have nothing more than supporting roles.

    Bump-diddy-bump..

.. looks like.. yep, seems to be.. a-ha... CONFIRMATION!
During a Q&A session at the German re:publica digital conference, IT Crowd creator and writer Graham Linehan announced that he is bringing the award-winning geeky British sitcom and cast members (Chris O’Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson and Matt Berry) back to Channel 4 for one last special forty-minute episode. According to Bleeding Cool, this final episode is to be filmed in three weeks time. The script for the special was written over a year ago, but due to a pregnancy and the actors being busy in other TV and film projects, it was postposed. Haven’t seen IT Crowd or need to catch up? All four seasons are available to watch via Netflix, Hulu and Channel 4.

Chris O Dowd tweeted about it.. but Graham Linehan hasn't addressed it yet.

EDIT: Looks like he's just confirmed it as someone replied to Chris O Dowd's tweet with:
    GeekCadet wrote:
whaaaat!!?? I asked @Glinner if anything like this was on the cards and he said no! Cheeky Glinner!!! X-D ... And also HURRAH!

    And Graham Linehan replied with:
    Glinner wrote:
@GeekCadet it sort of came out of nowhere. Sorry!

The final episode will be broadcast in October, as part of a special 'I.T. Crowd night', apparently. Nice to see Channel 4 doing something to mark the end of the show.

Channel 4 has announced a night of IT Crowd programming.

Currently planned for an unspecified date in October, the IT Crowd Night of programming will focus around the final, long-awaited special of Graham Linehan's office-based sitcom, The IT Crowd.

Do you know which ep is that, as its currently on E4 Thurs 10-11pm
The Final Countdown. Series 4, episode 2.
Moss becomes a celebrity by beating all records on a popular puzzle show. Meanwhile, Roy is mistaken for a window cleaner and Jen is preoccupied with Douglas having secret meetings with lots of women in fluffy dressing gowns.
Something Happened. Series 4, episode 3.
Another chance to see the fourth series of the BAFTA-winning IT Crowd. Douglas becomes a Spaceologist, Roy's life is changed by a bad back, and Jen gets involved with a rock band.

Jack Black once said on Graham Norton about Chris o Dowd 'that guy deserves an oscar'

Series 2 Episode 1 - The Works Outing
When the dashing Philip from the sixth floor pops in to ask Jen to the theatre, she accepts right away. But, to her annoyance, so do Moss and Roy, turning what could have been a date into a work outing. As the evening at the musical spirals towards disaster, she wonders whether Philip is everything he claims to be. Roy ends up pretending to be disabled whilst Moss ends up working behind the bar.

I agree, I thought it was good but nothing brilliant. Not like to memorable episodes; "I'm Disabled" and the episode when Roy thought he was having a heart attack!

A lot of individual laughs but the story was a bit meh.

I thought the first half was average but the 2nd half was very good (bar the ending).

It was a cunning greatest hits collection, only missing an appearance from the grave by Renholm. I laughed at least 12-15 times so it passed an hour well enough.

Or maybe I'm easily amused :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

Really enjoyed that. Thought Moss turning out the lights at the end was a nice nod of head to that well worn cliche. Wish it had just ended there rather than having a bit of in credit footage.

Not quite as good as their best episodes, but still plenty that had me laughing out loud. Could have done with a few more familar faces from the past as well, but a good send off all the same.

I was really sad when Moss turned off the light, but at the same time I'm really glad they didn't drag it out past it's sell by.

"Jen, what are you doing with the internet?"

"Yeah.. we're not doing that anymore"

I thought it was great. I was expecting to be underwhelmed because generally when these things are resurrected years later they disappoint but instead I thought that was every bit as sharp as ever. Even more sorry it's all over now. :(

Did anyone enter the chance to be part of the show by sending in a shocked looking photo of yourself ? Anyone spot themselves?

Just got around to watching it again, lots of laff-out loud moments, story wasnt strong, but plenty to remember from Tramp coffee Bitch & small Racist, Moss's new trousers that had a life of its own.

It also reminds me not to eat in front of the laptop, as i almost spat the contents out! when i saw Jen throw the coffee over the homeless woman again although it had a nice bearded Jen design from the awkward moment they had with the barista who served them both

did anyone else think they overused the laugh track way too much? I loved the episode, and don't care when shows use laugh tracks, but it was used far too much. Especially the first 5-10 mins(not even at funny parts). there was more laugh track than dialogue.

    Just me?

While there were certainly laughs to be had, especially the references to previous episodes, I thought this was quite poor. A lot of the jokes just weren't funny, especially that nonsense with Anonymous.

That was such a middling episode. Seemed pointless to come back for that. Even C4's timing of it was a bit weird. Normally these one off returns are on the Christmas schedule and not randomly at the end of September

I'm going to give it a second watch. I think my expectations were too high. I did feel genuinely sad at the end. I've had a lot of great laughs with that show.
