    Discuss! :p

edit - I should add I know I'm doing a multi-national corporations bidding for them by posting this, however it could lead to a rich discussion about the objectification of women for financial gain (or not).

Love 'em Mike .. oh and the bits in the vid too :p

Lot of jealous feminist crap being spouted about it.

You never hear men complaining about similar ads such as this one though:

Some people just need to get over themselves.

    Hot chics, I like

    Fizzy Orange Drinks, I dislike.

I'll be watching the advert while ignoring the product.

Methinks the effect of this ad will wear off over time as people realise the reality of club orange drinking:

"Jaysus will ya give us an oul' tin a mineral there, I've got an awful thirst on me after that hang sangwidge!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 415 ✭✭greenybaby

i think the ad is very clever tbh and nothing wrong with sexy women in the slightest, just us eejits that get jealous of our men looking at them :o

What a stupid add, patronising to men, suggesting that we are too f*cking stupid or backwards or uncivilised than to be able to see past our own cócks when it comes to making a purchase.

I don't think the makers of this product think

    Sexy Advert = Sales

    They think...

Sexy Advert = Get people talking = Sales

Exactly, sex sells and both sexes are manipulated by advertising. Let men look at boobies and let women look at the bulges, then everyone's happy. I know for one, that I am a hell of a lot happier now that I can once again drink Club Orange without thinking about cock (or erectile dysfunction) :P

I think you will find that the entire ad is tongue in cheek and was designed so people would first watch it and then discuss it.

    It's called good marketing.

An ad directed at mens natural urge to ogle and possibly bone extremely sexty women????

    It'll never work!

Now excuse me while i go fap buy some orange.

Seriously, do people think that because there is a TV ad with girls with their títs out and acting provocatively, that guys make a purchasing decision on that basis???

I genuinely think it's an absolutely rediculous ad.

That's what I'd call your opinion. My opinion on the subject is obviously not the same. I think it's making absolute thicks out of guys.

Yea we can. My sandwich I bought at lunch wasn't influenced by my c0ck. It just so happens that the hot Polish chick in the sandwich bar knows how to make em right.

Britvic own the brand now, which is kind of perverse considering their cute kiddie-centric advertisements for Miwadi

Not really, big companies make a range of products that have appeal to different markets/demographics.

That's the most ridiculous thing said so far on this thread.

You have a point of course but all they want to do is get the brand name in your head and make you think about their product. I don't think anyone will consciously buy a can of Club Orange because of the ad, but we are drawn to what we think about and they have made more men think about their product, it a positive way, as when they seen the ad, they smiled, whereas with people like you (and others) they may have actually lost customers, but being a betting man, I would say they will gain more customers than lose them with this ad. It may not be 'right' and your contention that it makes 'thicks' out of guys may very well be spot on, but nonetheless, it works.

I'm wasn't having a go at them. They can market their products however they see fit.

And in our culture, Childish innocence sells and Sex sells.

That said, maybe it's a shame that we debase both to the level of tools to sell products.

I don't think I'm easily influenced, but I went through an awful addiction to Hunky Dorys there a while back, for some unknown reason.

I feel another bout coming on, this time with Club Orange as my drug of choice.

No, you can't saw "Oh they also sell this product so it's perverse", It's like having a go at snickers for the telling people to "get some nuts" when they also own Uncle Ben's rice and all their ads show women cooking.

It's a non argument. And a silly statement.

I wouldn't say perverse, just low-brow and a little sleazy.

Anyway... yeah, as you say non-argument.

I don't even think the ad get's the "sexy" theme right, the women in it come across as extremely lacking in intelligence. Yes they are attractive, maybe it's just me and what I'm attracted to, (intelligence as opposed to some clearly stupid bint holding a pair of oranges rabbiting on about her "bits")...

Marketing by morons aimed at morons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,207 ✭✭✭The King of Moo

I think the sexy-lady angle will serve them well overall, but I don't think rhyming "bits" with "tits" is such a good idea.

When I think of the term "ladies' bits" (and I often do) I don't think of it in reference to breasts, rather another area entirely..

I'd say it's effective considering it's been posted around 5 times already on boards and no doubt there's already a feminist facebook group trying to get it removed.

They've always used the term bits, but this time they've said it while there's decent looking chick squeezing oranges. No big deal.

True. Perhaps I should revise my statement to simply - "Marketing aimed at morons."

Although I still think that the 'huh huh bits sounds like tits' attitude was more than likely dreamed up by some moron who wears scarves indoors.

That moron is probably very very rich and successful if he/she can advertise a client so effectively. Moron, I think not.
