So have taken the plunge & want to get much fitter & healthier - I am an awful snacker & very busy so some days may only eat 1 meal which I know is terrible.

So am thinking along the lines of below - would love some advice & suggestions..

    Breakfast -
Musuli with Natural Yogurt ( cant stand milk )
    or
    Poached Eggs on wholemeal toast

    Mid-Morning snack

    Piece of fruit

    Lunch

Salad loaded with Lettuce, tomatos, cucumber, advocado, peppers etc
    or
    Homemade Soup

    Mid Afternoon snack

    Hand full of Cashew Nuts
    or
    Piece of fruit

    Dinner
    Stir fry
    or
grilled meat/fish with veg & couple of baby boiled potatos
    or
    Grilled Salmon Salad

The above looks decent in my opinion. There can be some changes made to make it better, but if you stuck to the above you'd be doing great.

What's your diet like now? Is it something similar or wildly different?

    Frogdog,

Up until yesterday, diet very different to below.

Breakfast consisted of cup of black coffee, lunch if I managed to grab it was a ham salad sandwich & dinner meat or fish with potatos & veg or Pasta.

In between meals was snacking on biscuits & crisps..

So the meal plan below is what I came up with. If you could make any suggestions it would be great.. Went for a Jog at 6am this morning - am doing couch to 5k, came back, bowl of musuli with natural yogurt & feel great .

Well done on starting with the running program.

As for the meal plan, it's definitely a step in the right direction from what your previous diet was. The only minor suggestions I would make would be maybe to get some form of protein (meat, fish, eggs etc) in with your lunch, on top of the salad or soup. If you're having the salad, some extra virgin olive oil on top would be great. And go for the nuts instead of the fruit as the mid-afternoon snack, as you need more fat in your diet in my opinion. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water too, particularly with the increase in exercise.

Obviously, if you're looking to lose weight, go easy on the portion sizes. If you can count your calories all the better.

Other than that, well done and fair play in changing things around for the better.
