New Internet domain names.

A global internet body has voted to allow the creation of new website domain suffixes, the biggest change for the online world in years.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) plans to dramatically increase the number of domain endings from the current 22.
Internet address names will end with almost any word and be in any language.

Well a domain name extension cannot start before the . but if you had a brain you could end any domain you wish to register with 3.

i.e www.ilikecircles3.141***

Also, unless you'd like somebody to write pi to infinity, you're being a little silly.

I suppose you've memorised it to 1m digits? Maybe your text book has it to 1m digits too? Or more?

So many possibilities. Problem is....it's going to make it harder for most users. Right now, if you want to go to a companies website, you can guess at the url (eg, www.companyname.com). You can pretty much guess the domain. But now, there will be hundreds, if not thousands of domains.

I know my company is already looking into registering several new domains (it's a large multi-national..so cost is irrelevant )

The only real downside i know of is many sites have "helpful" filters that stop you using an unknown suffix for your email address.

The problem being they forget to update them I use a .info suffix and even now it still fails at some sites. :mad:
