I didn't even realise till friday that it was today, grrr. but was considering not getting anything anyway. i'm sure he won't even realise.

i'm wondering from a fathers point of view on this though, would it bother you if you didnt get anything?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,108 ✭✭✭RachaelVO

Got my Dad sweet FA. The shagger is in Spain, so fcuk it.

As for the OH, he got cards I made with the kids yesterday. On mothers day I got nowt, and I could care less! I include valentines in that!

TBH, I'd rather actually just get my dad/OH summit he'd likes/needs if and when he needs it. Can't be arsed with these mind numbing days.

I really hate these stoopid days so no, wouldnt even wish him a happy fathers day. Usually if I'm at home and it's mothers day my mother goes on about it so much I usually just make breakfast. But dads dont do that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,953 ✭✭✭Vinta81

Card, amazon gift card, made a cup of tea for him :o and said I'd do the washing up by hand later :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,005 ✭✭✭Creature

I just got him a load of beer. He's a handy dad like that.

Those of you who keep giving out about how stupid Father's Day is: Do you actually get your Dad anything at any other time of the year (excluding Christmas/ Birthdays)?

I generally find that people who bitch about these days never give people gifts or do something nice spontaneously, they're either too selfish or too cheap.

This is just generally speaking though.

THIS Dad does! Coming from the other side of the fence here. Three adult children. Several Lottery tickets (YAY!); lotto tickets; and phone credit.

Leaving Father's Day aside (I'm biased!:D) I think the days are a great idea. Even if you don't give gifts, it's nice (particularly for the Mammies) to be told that they are loved and valued.

    Everyone to their own.:)

    You are right.

Any day can be Fathers Day/Mothers Day or Valentines. Personally I'm happy that I can enjoy many spontaneous moments with my parents/daughter/son/wife throughout the year, that aren't forced on me by some card company.

Got him a card and a €90 bottle of Belgian whiskey :)
Taking him to his favourite restuarant when I return also!

No generally it would just be christmas/birthday gifts for parents but that's just coz I'm not that close to them not coz I'm stingy or mean.

But Dads don't generally nag you about doing something is what I meant, ofc that doesn't mean they wouldn't appreciate it as much maybe.

I hate these days too!! money racket. I'd usually have bought him something, or gone for dinner and paid for his meal but myself and my sisters put a few quid together and bought a spray of flowers for his grave. He'd probably be giving out, telling us to stop wasting money, but it's just a little gesture really.
