Lifegoeson by Noah and the Whale. It's a rip-off of Tom Petty's Don't Come Around Here No More.

I would never choose to listen to any of your list, but they all remind me of particular times and I could never bring myself to hate them, as with so many other "bad" songs". I love all music. Except the Script and The Corrs, Godawful shíte.

When it used to come on the radio , ''You can thank your lucky stars '' by somebody called Dean Friedman would make me want to throw the radio out the window .

Yeah, it is so so similar. Is this a deliberate thing?? An hommage or tribute or something? Another one is Coldplay 'Let's talk' and a riff from Computer Love by Kraftwerk, it is practically the same riff and was wondering was it some other tribute or something.

    "Escape" by Rupert Holmes.
It's the smug way he organises a date by putting an ad in a paper (that stupid Pina Colada bit) after getting "Tired of my lady"

Kate Bush explored exactly the same territory with Babooshka (watch the video.....cor!!!!!) and created a classic.

That new one, Bounce - Calvin Harris Ft. Kelis. Makes me feels sick it's so shíte.

    Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton.
That little instrumental bit in between all of the verses is incredibly irritating.

Could be just a Tom Petty thing. IIRC Red Hot Chili Peppers had a tune around 2005 that was exactly like one of his tracks. He's prob just one of those guys who write pop tracks that get stuck in the back of your head but are not annoying enough for you to remember that he wrote them.

Pendulum--Blood Sugar (after being subjected to it day and night for five days at Download 08. Felt like that scene in Fr Ted)
    Anything by Avril Lavigne
DJ Otzi or whatever it was, Hey Baby
    Forget the name--Two times
I know there's more but just can't think of them offhand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,080 ✭✭✭lmaopml

The nineties must have been the very worst decade for music. The eighties was way better. I think it's actually come on somewhat in the 00's....even if most of it is regurgitated and manufactured to sell...or la la ohh lala ra ra ..etc. etc ( My kids love that though ) probably cause they remember the words so easy..lol..

I actually heard this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfq_A8nXMsQ for the first time in years on the radio today, and I thought it was a real blast from the past. Put a smile on my face though :D always does.

Wow, that's a blast from the past! Have that on my iPod for when I feel like reminiscing the days of the Top 30 Hits.

Jaysis "Top 30 Hits", forgot about all about that show. The best thing about it was that it had Nirvana's Radio Friendly Unit Shifter as its theme music.

    I HATE Simply Reds Fairground...
God I hate it sooooo much

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,031 ✭✭✭✭kippy

    Simply Red - Fairground.

Really detest that song. Theres a lot of really annoying songs out there but that to me takes the biscuit and is the one that pops straight into my head when annoying songs are mentioned.
On further reflection, this causes me no end of annoyance although this may be controversial:

There's been a lot of stuff in the 00's thats turgid and annoying as hell but I tended to stop having to listen to the radion circa 2002.
