Can anyone tell me what the exact differences are between the two exercises?

Never heard of reverse band pull-aparts tbh

Are you prehaps getting mixed up band deadlifts. Also know as band pulls

Band deadlift/pull - tension increases towards lockout
Reverse band deadlift/pull - tension decreases towards lockout

A band pull-apart is a upper back excercise, not sure how a reverse would work

I was thinking that... but wouldn't behind the back pull aparts turn into a chest exercise with the most internally rotated shoudlers ever?!

Perhaps it's an overhead pull apart.

Haven't managed to find anything on either Youtube or Google for reverse band pull aparts

It's an exercise I've only seen Joe de Franco do.

It's like the standard band pull apart only palms up as opposed to palms down.

If that's the difference why did you ask? :D:D:D

I take it you mean whats the difference on various muscles used, i wouldn't be sure

Edit: I discounted behind it was basically a chest fly

It may be that having palms facing up mean there is is no elbow flexion, which would place more stress on your back since the triceps cant do any of work.

Personally I would not chose one over the other. I would do both.

Have you done both versions already?

That may well be the answer, thanks.

I'd imagine that having palms up helps to lock your shoulders in external rotation and place more stress on your external rotators. As mentioned, it probably cuts out a good bit of tricep recruitment too

Somebody with an impingement at their shoulder might find palms facing down aggravating whilst palms up is ok

    Just my 2c

No, not yet, as today is the first time I have ever heard of this exercise. I usually do band pull-aparts as part of my warm up prior to exercise. I will try them both ways next time though :)
