Hopefully a decent chance to pull away a bit.

Which probably means a nil all draw and Sully getting a red while SC does a touchline jig in his shorts.

Hoping can snatch a victory as Dundalk not in best form. Itd be great to happen.

Asked the club about the Bray game last week and they said its on Monday so you would be correct with that.

Can see Derry nicking this one, but we wont be making it easy for them. Missing O'Brien, Brennan and O'Connor.

Big weekend in the First Division too, top 4 all playing each on Friday and midlands derby on Saturday. Hoping we can get a result down in Limerick and the other 2 draw, be a nice week.

    Monaghan vs Cork City.

Can't make the trek tomorrow but will be glued to extratime.ie for updates.

No Shane Duggan but Gearoid Morrissey should slot right in next to Greg O'Hallorhan in the engine room. What a replacement. Prrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Have backed City at 13/8 and expect a comfortable victory:pac:

    1-3 is is about right.

    William Hill:

    Rovers 1/16, Galway 22/1

    0-0 18/1
    6-0 also 18/1
    7-0 only 40/1

Never seen more lop sided priced game in the LOI premier league.

Would I but 1,600 of my hard earned on it ???? knowing how Galway will approach the game ...NO

No goalscorer @ 20/1 would be my choice.

    Bit of overestimating Rovers too.

1/9 is around the correct price. Not that that's a compliment.

50/50 game, who knows Rovers could be down to 10 men early on, Twigg could get injured or something...ridiculous prices..

If Twigg didn't play and Rovers started the game with 10 men, I'd still be fairly sure of them winning.

Better get down Carlisle early, right up the back of the stand, was in the second row for relegation playoff with Mons last season and thought I was gonna get pnuemonia!

Would love 6 from from these two, more glad of the fact that after 3 weeks away we've TWO AT HOME IN FOUR DAYS OH YEA!!

    Lim 0 Shels 2

Limerick are without their two best players. No O'Flynn to score, no Purcell to keep goals out. Could be more than 2 nil.

Dublin - Limerick 2.5 hrs? Rush hour Friday starts at 4. Gonna head now.

Very similar weather to that day. Made for a good atmosphere though as the stand was packed.
I'd say there will be an invasion of Dundalk fans to the Stand if the weather stays like that. That's where I'll be anyway

We'll have a makeshift defence against UCD with Davoren and Foran injured and Peers suspended. Luckily the likes of Kirby, Cretaro and Doyle can all play full back if needed.

Thanks for that. Never even considered that might happen. Will have to keep an eye on reports.

*Edit* Just got a text there from the club and it's definitely off.

Poor game happy enough with a 4-1 win when we had 1 possibly regular playing at the back. We are incpable of not conceding.

Rogers to Rovers seems to happening now, interesting transfer.

    Easy win.

Billy was short of picking the ball up and running into the goal to get a goal. He must have some goal bonus :p

McCabe goal was a touch of class. Other than that not much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,571 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Fairly poor game. It's nights like tonight where you need to put 8 past a team that poor (which, considering the amount of golden opportunities missed would have been a very reasonable amount) to build up the goal difference.

The difference as soon as Finn comes on is unreal.

Our 4th was a wankfest of sublime touches, worth watchng on MNS if they show Norths touch in the build up.

Shels were incredible in Limerick, brushed them aside for a 3-0 away win. Limerick resorted to playing dirty, but it did them no good.

I'm now back in Dublin, sitting in work till at least 0600, and can't wipe this stupid grin of my already ridiculous looking face. Absolutely fcuking epic! :D

More racism from the Boh's fan.

After Zayed scored his 1st a bohemians fan decided to put something like a tea towel on his head with a black band round trying to mock obviously.

He looked distraught when he had a chance to get a hat-trick at the end when the shot wasn't even close:D He did set Twigg up nicely. It was a fairly quiet first half, Galway had one chance when Murray and McCormack got mixed up..

Second half was fine...O'Neill played well but he needs to have more shots. Finn and him seem to be on the same wavelength. Kilduff was anonymous. Connor looked like he has largely given up.

If that's true I'm happy it's only one fan and not more. And if so that's pretty immature. Apparently he was only messing and did it as a joke but with what's in the media it's probably too soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

Pats fans sang" we`re not racist we are just anti Zayed"

    Dont think thats racist ?

After Zayed scored his 1st a bohemians fan decided to put something like a tea towel on his head with a black band round trying to mock obviously.

Perhaps he had a cold head? Cant wait to see how the media play this, I'm sure it will be a good laugh anyway.

I know I'll get killed for this, and I am in no way what so ever defending racism but.... Even if all what was said to Zayed in the past few games happened, and were actually as bad as they were made out...plus multiplied twice... it would not even come close to the abuse some other players get.

Sure making fun of someones race is obviously bad, but in my opinion its the same as the abuse others get. Some examples and a lot just seem like banter:

"Dessie Baker, he takes it up the árse" <-- Before he signed for rovers
"Roddy Collins, he beats his wife etc" <-- Before/During/After he managed rovers :P
"Fúck off Pinochio" <-- jason byrne
+ about a 100 other ones. They make fun of sexuality, marriage problems, appearence...yet not a whisper. I dunno, I just find the dramatics about this odd, especially when there are plenty of much much worse ones that the media didnt pick up on at all.
    dfx- wrote: »

Has been all season imo. No idea how he banged in so many goals last season. He seems to have a heavy touch and is a bit one dimensional. Of course we'll let him go at the end of the season and he'll do what Amond, doyle etc has done once they left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,005 ✭✭✭✭Zebra3

3:0 away to the Blades-not to be sniffed at, though they were missing some key players.

Not a bad result in Monaghan either. :)

As bad as we were tonight, I actually thought it was an improvement on recent weeks.

I can't believe we didn't concede from a set piece.

Not really sure what happened in the pats game but I don't think that wearing a tea towel on your head or calling a player gaddafi is racist in any way.

Imagine turning around to Gary Twigg and calling him Macbeth or billy connolly? You could also add another racist insult by wearing a tartan beret...

Twigg has been called worse - and with reference to his nationality. As have many other players I'm sure.

Ridiculous. If people can't see the difference between targeting ethnic minorities with issues to do with their race/religion/ethnicity that have become clearly defined controversial target remarks, and making unoffensive gestures towards a Scottish person then it really isn't Zayed with the chip on his shoulder, its people like you who can't grasp how context and intent has everything to do with what defines racism, far more than the actual words said.

That isn't what the poster mentioned or what I was responding to. I'll still answer your question though. It is offensive but not in the same way. In the same way that a black person calling a white person a derogatory term really isn't the same as a black person having the n bomb dropped on them.

Attacking an ethnic minority because it is perceived as inferior by western culture is quite different to insulting someone from being from your disliked (it is even disliked?) neighbours. A scottish 'racial slur' is pretty much the same as insulting someone for being from Cork or Limerick and to be honest I don't think my life would be complete if I couldn't do those things.

Racial abuse is racial abuse not matter what right-on weighting system some people may choose to assign.

Good job on taking one sentence from my post that you disagreed with to attack because you could not touch the rest.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that part, because I'm not about to agree that racism (I didn't say it wasn't racism either way) based on hundreds of years of being treated with inferiority is the same as being based on having treated a race for hundreds of years with inferiority. I didn't say one was right and one was wrong. My issue was with people treating situations as like for like, where they are not like for like.

Do you really believe wearing a tea towl or calling somebody gaddaffi is racist? How is that targeting an ethnic minority?

I have German ancestry but I certainly wouldn't get offended if someone dressed up in laderhosen or called me hitler.

The chap was being slagged for being racially abused. Before someone jumps on me, I understand this is yet to be proven and may or may not be the case, but that is still what the idiot Bohs fan was slagging him for.

And of course wearing a tea towel on your head is mocking an ethnic minority and a part of the world that Western culture definitely has a superiority complex over. Not even close to the same as wearing a kilt to slag a Scottish person

Again with the German ancestry thing, you're comparing like for like in situations where things are not like for like. If you had Iraqi ancestry and were called Saddam on the street, you would certainly view it differently. Trust me, if you were walking down the street and saw an Asian man having Saddam shouted at him by yobs, you'd be absolutely horrified.
