Ah yes the important issues of the day. What age were you when (or if) you could successfully defeat your dad in a gruelling battle of the ancients. For me I was around 17-18 and when I gained the height on him.

As in not fully developed physically?

It depends on a number of factors.

It was thanks to my dad's omnipotence that I decided to become a pacifist.

yeah, around when I became taller than him and took up martial arts. He was in his late 50's at the time also so that gave me another advantage.

I dunno, my dad is 58 but he has this freaky wiry strength  we seem to be pretty evenly matched when we wrestle.

I'm a few inches taller then my auld fella but he's a hardy Donegal man with arms like tree trunks from using the chainsaw everyday so I reckon he'd kill me in a fight!

Your dad isn't lazy when he sits around drinking beer. He's resting up.

Weighing up the fors and againsts I dunno really. I've about 25 pounds on him and I am fit, he's shorter and has a bad back. But he also has training and years of dealing with people who need to be taken down from time to time. Since he's my dad I wouldn't try to hurt him really, I couldn't, unless he tried to hit my mother, which he never would. But as a man on the street knowing what I know about him, one good hit to the back and I am winning if I were to proper fight him.

Has a few stone, and a height on me. I'd say he'd still thump the head off me if i ever got dicky.

I always had a theory that most people would not be able to beat their da in a fight until he was probably very old, my granda is still a sturdy bástard in his 90's. Used to have drunk conversations with mates on how Evander Holyfields da would probably beat him if it came to it (I have never seen a picture of Holyfield senior, he could be 5'9" for all I know)

No but I've beaten up my mother numerous times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,227 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

I've seen some people's mothers who could beat their 20 year-old sons in a fight.

Im fairly strong and fit and my dad has 2 fake hips and is 36 years older than me and he'd still looter the head off me

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,670 ✭✭✭✭Wolfe Tone

At around 17 I was bigger and stronger, he would kick my ass though cause I wouldn't want to hit my Da.

    Not at the moment.

Though my dad's dead some 27+ years, I have a step-dad. Now, ordinarily I'd beat him senseless because he's in a wheelchair, but I have a broken ankle at the moment so I'd only beat him if I was sitting down and was able to use my crutches.

Not a chance. He'd knock me out with one punch.

This is an old home movie of me and Daddy duking it out. He's a proud man, and won't wear sunglasses even though the bright light negatively affects his cataracts :(

Even though I take after Mammy's side of the family more, I think I've inherited his stubborn streak lol

In a straight out fist fight never. But as a daughter I can say things first to catch him off guard and then I might stand a chance.

    "Im pregnent"

    Stunned silence

But even then he would need to be K.O.ed with the first punch

My father is 62 and i'd say he'd give me a beatin if it came down to it.

I couldn't imagine lifting a finger to him though - horrible thought.

Not a chance, he would kick the livin f*** outta me in a fight!! I never reached his height, I stopped growing an inch shorter than him... cursed maternal genes...

With the help of God I did surely, and that the Holy Immaculate Mother may intercede for his soul. He was a dirty man, God forgive him, and he getting old and crusty, the way I couldn't put up with him at all.

I never used weapons. I've no license, and I'm a law-fearing man. I just riz the loy and let fall the edge of it on the ridge of his skull, and he went down at my feet like an empty sack, and never let a grunt or groan from him at all.

I buried him then. Wasn't I digging spuds in the field?

The superfluous comma makes the question look like a double entendre with a trick ending.
