Ok I have been on a new diet this week after seeing nutrionalist. Have had very ltd dairy since monday( a natural yogurt in the morn with granola) and no bread/pasta or rice at all.

Now lunch is nearly here again today and I am running out of options. I cant eat more soup as eating soup on a hot/warm day is not nice.

Yesterday I had a wrap with chicken fillet (breaded) with chilli sauce and salsa in it. It was filling and tasty.

Is this bad for me? Calorie wise how bad are those wraps? I chose the breaded chicken as the cold chicken in the deli looks gross and slimy.

I intend to have prepped lunches from next week on such as chilli, or steak/chicken with veg buit for those days I dont have it will that chicken wrap be ok to eat??

To quote a post in a previous thread:

Wraps are as bad. Possibly worse, because they often have double the calories of a normal slice of bread. Brown pan is about 1% better than white. The dense wholegrain soda breads are slightly better, but you really are better cutting the bread out of your diet.

Try replacing bread with a rye cracker like Ryvita or Finn Crisp as you get used to not eating bread, then reduce those as well.

Do you have a microwave in your job?

If so go buy some steam in a bag veg, tin(s) of tuna and extra virgin olive oil (not needed if tuna comes in it).

Microwave veg, drain tuna and drizzle olive oil.

Just back from the shop. went with the wrap with chicken again...........damn.

As for tuna I always find it look repulsive sitting in a deli. almost as bad as what comes out of a tin. Thats just me though.

    THanks for the reply though

Bit confused that you said you haven't eaten bread at all then went on to say you had a wrap (i.e. bread) and some breaded chicken. Bread is bread!

Well I meant bread as in what one would make a sandwich out of but I get what your saying. It takes a bit of getting used to I guess,

Goodbye bread(in all your wonderful forms) it was fun while it lasted,

I dont understand how your nutritionist said that wraps are okay but bread is not?

I just so happen to have a packet of wraps in my kitchen. Nutrition info:

    1 Plain Wrap:
    200 Calories
    5.4g Protein
    28.4g Carbohydrates
    7.2g Fat
2.6g of which is saturated fat
    1g Fibre

Compare this to 2 slices of brown bread:
    156 Calories
    7.4g Protein
    28.6g Carbohydrates
    1.3g Fat
0.5g of which is saturated fat
    5.5g Fibre

    Hey VonLuck

I never said that the nutrionist said it was ok at all!!!

When I emailed him what I ate for the week he dissected it and told me where I was going wrong. I just assumed they were in some way better for me.

A lot of delis, cafes and manufacturers have marketed wraps as the "healthy" option on a menu. Don't worry, you're certainly not alone in thinking they are somehow better than bread!

If I'm in a rush to bring something for lunch, I grab sesame ryvita. I know they seem unappetising, but you have to put nice stuff on them! I love them with houmous or cream cheese, ham/chicken, avocado and tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce or whatever salad I have lying around.
