    Hey all,

My friend is getting her gallbladder removed soon and I was hoping someone/anyone here would have some dietry advice for her.
I'm sure the hospital will inform her of a general guide but does anyone here have any first hand experience?? :/

If she gets dietry advice will depend on her Hospital and how good they are I had my Gallbladder out in Auteven in 2002 and got a wonderfull diet sheet off them which basically promoted less fats but not elininating them and the fats listed seeemed to be proper fats like butter and oils......
for the few days I was in the gave me lovely meals based on this diet

A week later I was hospitalised for a suspected clot but was taken to the Mid west regional there my low fat diet consisted of coleslaw potatoe salad sausages rahers creamy porridge bacon etc they could not cater for a healthy lower fat diet as i was so sick i was afraid to eat the stuff in case i got worse so one day I asked for some extra bread( had a tin of tuna in my locker) I was given bread which has mould on it.........so have her prepared

I seem to remember that the main emphaisis was on fats per 100gie less than 3/5 (sorry cant remember) and as it was not a weight loss diet there was no restriction on quantity of food ....i still lost a few pounds on it.

I hope it all goes well for her....I do remember eating a lot of steamed chicken and brown bread with tomatoes...........I thin k that may be because i was steaming chicken when I collapsed with the clot....lol:)

I would think your friend should definately ask her doctor(s) as first port of call because any advice given here will be second or third hand before it gets to her and its a serious enough operation.

These are queries that she should ask the medical professional involved. Best to ask rather than wait to be told.
