seeing as the escalation map pack has just come out on the PS3, don't really see the point in them brining another one out but i'll probably get it :(

Don't worry, you'll be waiting a bit longer for them :P

They'll be crap. I won't be getting them anyway.

The new ones are sort of growing on me, still... not really worth the money. CoD in general is getting old for me atm, i'll probably stop playing completely mid august and have a long break before MW3. so kinda pointless buying these.

    U and shammy.
Shammy was the reason I started playin MP in the last month of mw2 so for me it's kinda fresh

Can't see myself getting this unless the zombies map is the best ever. The multiplayer maps in the past dlc from treyarch were boring as hell apart from stadium and don't come up in rotation often enough. And when they do they're is an abundance of campers even on objective based games.

For the 1200 ms points and whatever the euros equivalent I'm certainly better off buying something on the 360 like bioshock 1 or 2 instead of paying for an add on to a game I've already felt like I've gotten the most out of.

I've sunk alot of time in to Battlefield Bad Company 2 of late and would recommend to anyone to pick it up for £15 here. Campaign is decent enough, looks very pretty and as for multiplayer the feeling of sniping a chopper pilot midflight is the best. Just don't get a second hand copy as you need a once off special activation code.

BF2 just seems too much like a cartoon (I thought Black Ops compared to MW2 was until I seen this) graphics-wise.

Battlefield 3 seems like a whole different kettle of fish from the gameplay videos I have seen so thats a deff buy along with MW3.

I just got the Latest Map Pack having skipped the first and I got it for the Zombies level too which turned out to be a disapointment.

New Map Pack == 2 x Large bottles of bulmers

Yes, I'll be buying the new map pack to keep me going until MW3.

    Just seen this on gameinformer.

New maps are to be released in 2 weeks, they look pretty sweet.

    http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/06/16/prepare-for-black-ops-39-annihilation-with-video-tour.aspx

More zombie maps too, maybe i should actually give that mode a try...

Map pack 3 visually looks far better than map pack 2, and thus more appealing I'll give em that.

Seems the leaks were right. Remember the golf course being mentioned here before.

Whats the deal with one person buying it then logging into another ps3 and downloading them and allowing anyone else who logs onto that machine to play them?

Believe its normal practice? Seems a bit halfarsed.

Surely PSN can't be that slack in terms of ease of DLC misuse

Don't have a PS3 or support the Jolly Rodger but after recent events all Ii can say there is FFS :D

Yeah, they look brighter and i actually might enjoy them. Although Drive-in reminds me of Carnival and i can imagine that is going to be full of ghost, silencer etc. (Although that is what all maps are like these days )

I like the look of Hazard and i know Ade loves a bit of golf, golf and COD at the same time? Doubt you can say no to that

    Hmmm...

was thinking I wasnt gonna buy the last DLC coz its getting so much closer to MW3 that I felt I'd be grand without it..

But the pretty colours of these maps are really enticing me!! They by far, look way more attractive than any DLC and that nuketown similar map looks like fun..

Grrrr.. stop making me give you money treyarch! :(

Keep the maps coming, I say. Sick of playing Radiation for the 200th time. Looking forward to sniping from the fairways on Tuesday and catch a movie at the drive-in.

They could potentially do two more map packs as they have 300GS of space left on the xbox. I hope they continue the map packs, for those who do not like the next game.

This will be out at 2pm GMT later today/tomorrow.

It's a bit stingey milking us for all we're worth but as I see it I've paid 50 quid for games that I've not spent more than 15 hours on, so meh. :)

Had a quick game there on the golf course or whatever....its built for snipers. looks the biz

    now for zombies...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 101 ✭✭swampyk08

    Initial impressions

They used a brighter colour scheme on all maps and there are no snow/white maps.

    Silo = Quarry
Drive In = Trailer Park/Salvage (feels bigger than Firing Range so I dont think its NukeTown 2)
Hangar 18 - similar to WAW map (plane hangar)
Hazard - Large sniper map with a few areas to hold down.

    Overall so good so far.

first game of zombies....no idea where anything is. still managed to get to level 15.

    looks pretty decent tho

Just downloaded it an hour ago so I'll need some time to let it all sink in. However, my first impressions is negative. It's quite a welcoming change to have brighter maps but having said that, colours are nothing without substance and the contents of the four maps leave a lot to be desired. Hazard is nice and quite different but almost all of the others are particularly rehashed and have repackaged oldie similarities. For example, the distinct dreariness of Silo represents Treyarchs Quarry from Modern Warfare 2 - except this time, it's complete with a certain darkness and blandness.

Hanger 18 and Drive-In can't help but feel like "We've all been here before" - there are a couple of buildings to explore and...well, that's pretty much it. In fact, the sole reason I bought this was for Shangri-La. I've managed to play through it once and my initial impression is uncertainty. Yes, it is quite close combat corridor run-and-gun type of gameplay but I think in the long run, Call of the Dead will push through as my favourite Zombie experience.

In ending, I feel like the majority in that Treyarch is not giving the fans what they want. They know what works and what doesn't. It's a case of balancing the harms - on one side, deviating too far from the successful model is a taboo for the Call of Duty franchise and yet, continuing down this avenue will only bring more discontent and confusion among the people paying their wages. Ultimately, the survival of this brand will rest with MW3. It is the first day of July and already, even after purchasing this new addition, find myself convinced that I have drained every last drop of entertainment from this product. I have never even played so much as a second of any Battlefield game and yet, I think it will be first on my Winter list of games to pick-up. This is soley my opinion on Annihilation but given the resources these developers have in being the biggest selling game of all time, surely they have the clout to produce a worthwhile DLC that will please those that have been loyal to the series all these years.

I dunno why but I'm doing some serious killing on Silo. The kind of map that's open, long distance kills. Can catch people of all rank off guard. Big map but feels good.
Hazard is fun. Need to watch your back all the time, though. Couple of camp spots. And the fact it's around a golf course is cool.
Drive-in is ok, reminds me of Village in MW2. Haven't played it much yet but like the lay-out.
Never got a chance to play Hanger-18, yet, nor the zombie one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭mcgovern

All maps are full of camping ghosts.
Can be good though if you can get behind them ;)

Drive Through is very much not a new Nuketown though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭Nantastic

Give it a week or so before I judge it, lot of corner campers afraid to explore the maps. Initial reaction is - meh.

Echo what everyone is saying though, Drive Through no Nuketown.

Golf course feels frighteningly familiar. Think we might have had something like it in call of duty 4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭Nantastic

Did they not say it was a reimagining of a WaW map?
