Hi i am also due 13th Jan, symthoms have not been too bad just little bit of everything but no extremes thank god!
Only thing is i got a letter from the hospital to say that they think i may have a bladder infection i had to send in fresh sample again today and they are going to test again to make sure
This is my first and feeling little nervous about it, just wondering have any of the rest of you gone through something like this before on previous pregnancies?? :(

Hiya, try not to worry. As far as I know bladder infections are fairly common in pregnancy. If you need an antibiotic there are types that are perfectly safe to take in pregnancy. In the meantime you should drink loads of water and take it easy.

Due around February 14th and scared to think about it too much in case I get too excited. I had two miscarriages before so I am keeping fingers crossed that everything goes ok. No sickness yet but queasy pretty much every morning time. I guess I am lucky so far.....

    Hi all,
great to see theres a few of us here. im due jan 13th too but sure that date might change. its my first baby and every pain i get i think something is wrong then on a rare occasion when i feel grand i think somethin is wrong! madness. so excited tho. I have the all day quesy feeling which sometimes leads to gagging (sorry). its awful. also have diarrhia. :o but its not all day. prob 2/3 times a day. i have IBS so thats prob just IBS flaring up a bit as im sure are some of my pains. also sooooooooo tired. i lay down today at 1 o clock and slept for an hour!
visited home yesterday and my brother kept askin me was i depressed, tired or did i have a fight with my husband! i was just home from a double shift so was extra extra tired. we arent telling anyone til 12 weeks which will be 2 weeks tomorrow :D.

i have a scan at 13weeks cos of some pains early on but i saw the heartbeat at 8 weeks :) its wierd being so excited and so scared of somethin goin wrong at the same time! great to share it with all of yas here tho. we know what we are all goin through!

Im excited and terrified at the same time too :) I havent had any idea of when I'll be having my scan or when I can hear the heartbeat bit annoyed at my doc as she explained nothing to me when I went first have another appointment with her on 28th so will bring it up then. Is it normal to have a scan and hear teh heartbeat so early?

    hi,
just from reading posts having a scan so early isnt normal. only if they think somethin is wrong or you have pain or some bleeding. i had lower abdominal pain. i think the normal scan is around 17 weeks. seems alot like ur left to do things yourself like bookin appts. i didnt have to as i went to the early assessment unit and she made my appt for the 13 weeks scan. i wasnt expecting to get it til the 17th week but im not complaining. i think the best thing to do is write a list of questions for ur doc and bring them with you so you can have your questions answered. thats what im planning on doin and my doc likes when i bring him lists! im thinkin of goin public but wonderin could i go semi private. i really havnt a clue bout this stuff!! so new!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 862 ✭✭✭red fraggle

I had a wierd dream. i was in labour NO PAIN :), but i was only 3/4 cm dilated so they were sending me home for a few days!I was really annoyed and upset. i woke up and my husband was talking in his sleep and i think we were having a conversation when we were both asleep. WIERD!

Just because of the two miscarriages, I asked GP about going private. Probably wouldn't have done so otherwise. Gp told me to tell consultant about the two miscarriages and that they would give me an early appointment. I told the receptionist and she gave me an appointment for eight weeks where I will see consultant and midwife. She told me to drink lots of water so I presume that means a scan will happen too. She also told me to bring a cheque a third of the amount due for the consultant :(
Just hope everything goes ok...sometimes I almost wish for morning sickness just so I could feel more secure...weird I know....
    No mad dreams yet though

Hi quins5, Im with you on the exhaustion! Ive never experienced tiredness like it!
Definitely plan on doing pregnancy yoga as Ive heard it can be an amazing help during labour. Its not recommended you start it before 15 weeks though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 862 ✭✭✭red fraggle

Im thinkin of the pregnancy yoga too. im really tired and having some pains in my lower stomach and left side. had a scan last fri due to some brown discharge thur night and all was good. no more brown discharge until last night and it was a small amount. so worried but tryin not too cos they say its normal. im thinkin my pains are to do with stretching and possibly IBS. have another scan in 2 and a half weeks when i will be 13 weeks. soon as i get excited i seem to get a pain or brown discharge to worry about!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 568 ✭✭✭carwash_2006

Red Fraggle, if the pains are at the side then I think they would be round ligament pains, I think I've had these on and off yesterday and today, quite sharp, but fleeting.

On the early side of things, I felt like my period was coming at any moment for a good couple of weeks, so I wouldn't worry about that unless you get bleeding.

Thats great to here. its the last few days ive been feelin it on and off and they are very sharp pains. had one brown spot of discharge last thurs and one spot last night. docs says it can be normal. scan last fri showed everythin was on time and i was exactly 10 weeks. just gona try stop worrying and take each day! and pray! :)

I try to take the attitude that if anything is going to go wrong my worrying about it isn't going to change that, so I might as well enjoy myself until there is evidence that something is wrong.

In saying that though, I am very much looking forward to first hospital appointment next week at 13 weeks and really hoping that we still have 2 nice strong heartbeats at the scan.

yeh ur so right. im gona try put bad thoughts out of my head when they come in. my husband is excellent at not worrying and bein positive. then im almost trying to prepare him for if somethin goes wrong. its not fair so im gona think like him from now on cos worrying isnt gona change a thing. feeling much better tonight. managed to make dinner, eat it and clean up with no gagging or sick feeling! it was great!

goodluck with your scan. your nearly 2 weeks ahead of me! bet its really exciting having 2! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49 nearlythereacca

Its so hard not to worrry isnt it! Especially when you havent been scanned or heard the heartbeat yet like me, next week cant come soon enough.

Does anyone else have days where they dont feel pregnant at all? The tiredness and the sickness lifts a little and your stomach seems flatter?! I nearly prefer feeling fat and like crap as its reassuring that everything is progressing!

Yes me too some days i have a nice little bump and other days seems like its just disappeared!! I have my second appointment with my doctor next Tuesday for her to take my blood and although I hate needles I can't wait for it. I am kind of wishing things would move along faster :)

im 11 weeks today but feeling little worried...there was some pinkish stuff when i wiped on saturday night, this was straight after having intercourse (sorry if too much info!) but gone again on sunday. Then again yesterday morning was little again when i went toilet first thing but was gone again and seems to be gone completely now...I dont know what to think iv done a little reading on the web and i think it can be normal for little spotting after intercourse but have any of you had any experience with this?

I had spotting early on around week 5/6 and had early scan done at 7 weeks and nurse said everyting was ok and we heard heartbeat so im hoping its ok again. Not due another scan til 20 weeks. I think once theres no blood its ok???

i know how you feel. im 10 weeks 5 days. i think it is normal after intercourse and if theres no blood it should be ok. but im the same as you i had small amount brown discharge thurs and mon but only once each time and not after intercourse. apparently this can be normal too. i had a scan last fri and it showed heart beat and everything was fine. if i get it again i will prob ring and run it by someone. im trying to think positive and that i cant control it. easier said than done but im trying. if it hapens again id ring the early pregnancy unit and ask them. goodluck and try not to worry. i think we will all feel much better once we get to 12/13 weeks. not long left! please God we will all have healthy pregnancies!!

    thanks red fraggle!

Ye i know it can be so nerving just wondering about things like this specially because i had a m/c last november so i tend to think the worst but going to try stay positive, i havn't actually had any blood so everything should be ok..only thing is that my next scan is not until 21 weeks and seems so far away!!

Yes will definately feel much more at ease this day next week when i finally reach 12 weeks! Then only another 6months after that!! :o

    8 weeks today woohoo!!!

This time around I've way more symptoms, if I get even a little bit hungry I immediately feel sick. Often I won't actually realise I'm hungry till I feel pukey and the only thing that fixes the pukeyness is food
Also wrecked, beyond wrecked, there needs to be a new word invented for this level of tiredness- I cried the other night because I'd forgotten to take my makeup off and all I wanted to do was sleep!! I'm heading to bed as soon as baby rylie goes to bed these days. Poor hubbie!

I had pinkish bleeding at 12 weeks on this pregnancy and at 9 weeks in the first pregnancy...they told me that you have kind of blood vessels in your cervix that can burst which causes the bleeding, which is why it's a light pink and not darker. If you're worried don't be afraid to go to the hospital...are you getting a 12 week scan? If so they can check for a heartbeat then.

    Hiya ladies

We had the first scan on Tuesday and it was amazing, very active little baby, doing lots of kicking so now hb thinks it's going to be a footballer!!!! 10 weeks 5 days today and have told my parents - they're mega excited as it's the first grandchild and telling other grandparents at weekendbut noone else yet.
My hb is now very excited but I'm still reluctant to get too excited as I know loads of people who have had a mc at 11/12 weeks - I know this is the wrong attitude but it's hard, especially first time.
Feeling much better this week, less tired and nauseous but eating like a horse - up a half stone already, which I know isn't good but fe*k it!!!
Still hard to believe there is a little person inside me though!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 MiMi P

Quins5 - I'm due on Jan 14th so near you and red fraggle - I'm based in Cork too - Are you going public or private?? I'm thinking private as it is our first...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 862 ✭✭✭red fraggle

congrats mimi p on the scan!

i felt crap the last 2 days and have a bit of a cold. sooo tired. I have another scan on fri 8th so we will tell everyone then WHEN we see eveythin is still fine. fingers crossed!!!!

I am from wexford. not sure if i will go public or private. dont know if there would be much difference there. i would have appts in one hospital but would still have the baby in wexford general. i wouldnt mind having a semi private room but not sure if thats an option. if any one has any ideas on the public/private let me know.

good luck to everyone. not long til we hopefully reach our 12 week mark!

    Red Fraggle,

Anyone else having similar issues?

Yep! Dizzy spells are common, I'm getting at least 1-2 per day!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,242 ✭✭✭liliq

Dizzy spells could possibly be due to a sudden change in blood pressure when you stand up or sit up quickly.
But only getting your blood pressure checked by your doc or nurse will tell you if it is that... if you're worried there's no harm getting it checked out, even just for peace of mind :)

    Hey MiMi Congrats!
I cant wait to have our big scan in 2 weeks and to actually hear the heartbeating, we did see it but didnt hear it yet:)

We'v decided to go public. It took us awhile to make the decision as it is our 1st baby. Wev decided anyway that we dont know any different and the CUMH is the same for everyone from wot I hear, also if you need the consultant, he/she is called immediately. My sisters all went private but that was when the Bons was a maternity hosp. My Sister-in-law went private and her Consultant was away when she gave birth and another sisters consultant was on holidays for her most recent birth, so we kind of feel why pay over €4,000 for a Consultant who may not even make the birth!

Im happy to be in the care of the midwives, they're all brilliant anyway! (although ask me again in 9mths LOL!!! :D)
Im quite sure that €4000 will come in handy once the baby is born :)

Best of luck with your decision, might meet you in the waiting rooms around the place!

We went public with our first. The consultant was needed at the end of the birth, and although it wasn't the consultant I was under, everything went fine. Also the hospital staff (and all through the pregnancy) couldn't have done any more for me than they could have if I had gone private.

I'm going public again this time. Have absolutely no concerns about doing this due to excellent treatment last time.
