Big, complicated lump of metal with plastic ancillaries which sits in a tub in front of the flies-in-teeth-stopper. It takes stuff from a tank, burns it and makes the car move.

I cannot see anyone buying a Highline Jetta because the typical Jetta customer likes the poverty spec with steel wheels. The Highline is crazy money and you get no extras worth talking about.

That VW Amorak is 41K for a Highline which is totally crazy imo...

Agreed the Polo 1.6TDI Highline is now gone on special order

According to the salesman why would you want one when you can get a basic Golf for just a little bit more.......

Hmmm. Because this is Ireland and I want to be able to tell my car from the sheep's.

I seriously considered spending €24k on a Polo last year under scrappage. Luckily for me I don't have the repayment potential in enough abundance to satisfy the fund provision cooperative.

Why would I want a €24k Polo, because I'd rather puke than buy something that looks like it was puked out of Wolfsburg, though the salesman assured me that "the Golf looked practically the same"

I'm sorry, but don't contradict the customer when they're complimenting the product they WANT.

OP, surely that's a typo... VW can't have a manual mirror on the highline?

This is probably up on the VW website, but just incase - full Product guide for the Jetta. Possibly updated by now as this was at launch.

Standard specification isn't too bad in all fairness.

The car has a market, but that's probably more Fleet oriantated than consumer. Junior sales reps who aren't allowed a Passat, but need more boot space than a Golf, and don't want a Skoda, will be quite happy with one of these I should imagine.

What I don't get is this whole "smoking package" thing which comes up in spec lists. It's just an ashtray and cigarette lighter which has been pretty standard in cars for a long time now.
